Style as a running community.
Case 01. Chicken Heart Running Team

Community has become one of the important keywords in the running scene in recent years. Communication is motivating, diverse information is actively shared, and it is creating a new movement in running, which tends to be stoic. We asked key members of this high-profile community to try on the latest HOKA models. How does this affect their style? We will explore the relationship between community, style, and running gear in two installments, one for trail and the other for road, from each perspective. This time, we asked members of the "Chicken Heart Running Team" to wear the latest trail running shoes, the Mafate 5.

The relationship between chicken hearts and "hoka".

-Today you are wearing Hoka's newest trail running shoes, the Mafate 5.

HDK: The first running shoes I bought were Speedgoats, which I liked because they were easy to run in and looked cool. I wore them when Shin and I participated in the Atacama Desert Marathon, a 250-km, 7-day race held in Chile.

Shin: I also wore "Speedgoats" in that race. I also wore "Bondi" on the road.

Mahina: The first pair of running shoes I bought were "Hoka" shoes, which were recommended to me by HDK.

TETSU: I often wear Hoka shoes, and I use several different models depending on the race. I wear the Mafate Speed, the Tecton X, and the Speedgoat for all the 100-mile races I have completed.

Penn: This was my first time wearing Hoka shoes. I really felt the high level of cushioning that is often mentioned.

-What do you look for when choosing trail running shoes?

HDK: Since I sometimes run on roads and forest roads in my daily practice, I choose shoes that can run on mountain roads and are easy to run on roads and forest roads.

Shin: Me too. I prefer to be able to run on the road as well as on trails.

Mahina: The sole was chosen to be hard so that the road would have a comfortable grip and the landing would be stable.

TETSU: I choose thick soles that have a non-slip grip and cushioning to prevent knee pain.

Penn: I like thinner soles. But when I tried on the Mafate 5, I didn't realize how well it handles on my feet. My impression of thick cushion foam has changed.
