Do you recall the number of spectators when you are dying?
-Are you based in the U.S. now?
Kasamatsu: No, not at all. I live in a hotel every time, and I feel like I am traveling for a photo shoot. My stance is "I'll do anything," whether it's in Japan or overseas. But the jobs that come in are all projects that the director or producer says, "Definitely in Kasamatsu. So, in the end, only the strongest projects come to us. No matter which one you choose, you can't go wrong. It would be interesting if we were to miss out.
-Is that also the story you mentioned earlier?
Kasamatsu: Yes, but the story is important. I don't mean the story in the sense of the script, but rather the story of how I came to encounter this film. I often hear people say that the script determines whether or not a person will act in a film, but I don't know if the script is interesting or not. I don't know if a script is interesting or not, and the way I feel about it changes depending on my physical condition and the stage of my life at that time. If there is someone who knows which script is absolutely interesting, why don't we just give the entire budget and time to that person? But the fact that this is not the case means that no one knows. Even a director who has made a big hit may flop the next time. So in the end, nothing is known. So the only thing that matters is how much fun you can have with the people you work with.
It doesn't matter if the audience is 100 or 101, 10,000 or a billion. For me, it doesn't matter. What is important is to be able to laugh and talk about how interesting the scene was or how pissed off I was at the time. After all, I am the one having the most fun. If the people who saw the film thought it was great, that's all that matters. I think Messi is the same way. In the end, I think he enjoys the World Cup the most.
-That's for sure. When did you start thinking that way?
Kasamatsu: Until about a year ago, I was only thinking about how many people would see my show. But there is no end to that. I don't think there is anyone who, on the verge of death, will say, "My film has been seen by 1,024,384 people! I don't think anyone will be counting the number of people who saw my film. It would be better to think that the filming was fun. (Laughs.) Or, if I'm not very good at it, I may not even think that (laughs). (laughs) So I think it is even more important to make the present moment highly satisfying.
About L.L.Bean Japan Edition's Field Coats
The "Prospect Harbor Field Coat" is made of a vintage-inspired duck fabric, but it is actually polyester and extremely lightweight. The fabric's texture improves with repeated wear and washing. The form is made wide with the current era in mind. ¥26,400 (L.L. Bean Customer Service Center)
The women's version of the Prospect Harbor Field Coat is shorter in length than the men's version. According to Kasamatsu, this is why it has a "cute" silhouette. ¥26,400 (L.L. Bean Customer Service Center)
Mr. Kasamatsu's "Bean's Field Coat, Insulated Indigo" is lightweight because it is made of fine cotton yarns and hollow polyester yarns interwoven. Moreover, it is warm because it is double-insulated with two very lightweight polyester inserts in the lining. The expression created by the faded indigo dyeing like old clothes is also attractive. If you wear a sweater or other heavy clothing inside, you can spend a comfortable time in the city in midwinter. ¥35,200 (L.L. Bean Customer Service Center) Customer Service Center)
