SHOP 1: BRAIN DEAD STUDIOS SHIBUYA
From clothing to speakers, and even conveyor-belt sushi.
—Do you usually come to Shibuya Parco?
Kato: There are often fun pop-up shops and events here, so I usually come just for those. It carries a wide range of brands from both Japan and abroad, which makes it a great place to shop for clothes. *Brain Dead* is one of the brands I check out regularly. I’ve been to their Harajuku store a few times, but this location has a more open atmosphere, so it’s easy to just pop in.
Tamaki: I often go to “GALLERY X” to see exhibitions. I’ve performed live several times in the event space on the 10th floor, so I have lots of memories from those times. I also performed at an event celebrating Shibuya Parco’s third anniversary, and last year I played at a party for artist Ema Gasper’s exhibition.
〈Brain Dead〉 × 〈Ema Gasper〉 Collaboration T-Shirt ¥13,200
—That was last November, when Ema held her exhibition “Kino Sei” at “GALLERY X,” right? What was the atmosphere like on the day of the event?
Tamaki: That day was a bit different from our usual shows—while Mei Semones and I were playing, Ema was doing a live drawing behind us—and it was a lot of fun. The atmosphere at the venue was great, and I’d love to collaborate with them again sometime.
Kato: I just came across a T-shirt from the collaboration between Ema and *Braindead*. The soft-colored design is really cute.
—Do you have any favorite items from *Braindead*?
Kato: I have a few pairs. I love them because they have so many bold, unique designs—just wearing them makes me feel energized. Lately, I’ve been eyeing the shoes from their collaboration with Oakley. Unfortunately, it looks like the color I wanted is already sold out…
Tamaki: It’s not just fashion—they’ve teamed up with all kinds of brands and artists, and every collaboration is really interesting. The items from their collaboration with *Ghost in the Shell* are also really cool, and I’m definitely curious about them.
Kato: This feeling of various cultures blending together and coming together in a concentrated way is what makes *Braindead* so unique and one-of-a-kind.
〈BRAIN DEAD〉×〈AIAIAI〉UNIT-4 Studio Monitor ¥ 110,000, 〈BRAIN DEAD〉×〈AIAIAI〉Sunglasses ¥ 30,800
Tamaki: These "Aiai" speakers are amazing. The design is so cool—they'd look great in my room. I wonder what they sound like...
Kato: How about some sunglasses?
Tamaki: Nice! That really suits you. It's amazing how Seong-soon can pull off even the most unique pieces.
The food-themed keychains and magnets created in collaboration with the artist unit "magma" are popular with international customers as well. We also offer T-shirts exclusive to our Shibuya store.
Tamaki: Wow, what is this?! Sushi and fried chicken are floating by. It's just like a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant.
Kato: This is exactly what I wanted. I would have preferred salmon or shrimp, but I heard they’re so popular they’re already sold out.
Tamaki: Kushikatsu is nice, too. Watching the water flow is somehow soothing (lol). Since there are a lot of international visitors at Shibuya Parco, I’m sure they’ll get really excited if they spot this.
