In stores, this jacket is particularly popular among the younger generation, and many customers try it on. We spoke with Teppei Ueda, merchandiser at BEAMS, about the jacket's particular features. He said, "I think the reason why we have had such a good response in stores is because we focused on the balance of the jacket's look and feel. To create a modern impression through the way you dress, the silhouette, in other words, the balance of the look, is more important than the material or design. Mr. Ueda's intention was to sublimate both his own image of Wrangler and the company's individuality. I myself originally had a western image of Wrangler, and I recognized it as an American casual brand with many classic items such as ranch coats and western shirts, so it was my intention to update that image with modern clothes.
The most important point is that this work, which is usually a long-length coat, has been changed to a short-length jacket. In addition, to match the silhouette, the large collar, which was typical of the 1970s in the original, has been made one size smaller, and the silhouette and the appearance of the collar have been adjusted by taking into account trends sensed by "BEAMS" from its own perspective. As a result, the jacket has a more modern and sophisticated impression. In addition to the standard indigo, the jacket is also available in black denim and charcoal boa, colors not found in the "Wrangler" archives. This is a special item that can only be obtained at BEAMS.
