The shooting coat has been updated with a water-repellent, lightweight fabric!
Any editor knows firsthand how the cold can affect performance during winter location shoots. That’s why seasoned editors—especially those with years of experience—have their own strategies for winter shoots, such as wearing long down coats with excellent insulation or layering thermal underwear and sticking on plenty of hand warmers. However, puffy down coats can restrict movement, and thermal underwear can be a hassle to put on and take off—each approach has its pros and cons.
So, I decided, “Since we’re doing this anyway, let’s create the definitive winter outerwear piece that’s truly practical,” and in collaboration with our longtime partner, , we created this “UTILITY SHOOTING COAT.”
While the previous model used a twill fabric made with CORDURA® yarn, this time we’ve updated the design to be more practical for everyday urban use by adopting “WEATHER SHIELD,” a lightweight, three-layer fabric with excellent water-repellency, for the shell.
Since I often have to wear it for long periods during location shoots, how lightweight it is actually matters more than you might think when choosing a long outerwear piece. After all, a coat that’s warm but makes your shoulders stiff will leave you feeling completely different levels of fatigue by the end of a shoot. Of course, this one is also padded, so it offers excellent warmth while remaining ultra-lightweight.

Available in two colors: navy and olive. By striking the right balance between military and outdoor elements while maintaining a simple design, this piece can be worn in any situation. With its relaxed, wide silhouette and a length that fully covers the hips, it pairs well with any top and offers endless styling possibilities.
In addition, to accommodate the water-repellent shell, we have omitted the muff pocket that was previously located above the front pocket.
And here’s the standout feature, billed as the “uniform for editors.” When you open the vertical waterproof zipper on the front, a total of nine hidden pockets—both large and small—are revealed!
What’s more, the mesh pocket with a drawstring can hold relatively large items like 500-milliliter bottles and books, while the tall, vertical pocket is perfect for pens and charging cables, and the zippered pocket is ideal for loose change, tickets, and passports—making it easy to organize your belongings according to your needs. The size and placement of these features have been revised from the previous model to make it even more user-friendly.
