It all started with the Air Max 1 in 2007.
Fuinam: So, let’s take a look back at Clear Jade’s history. To begin with, how did the relationship between “Atmos” and Clear Jade begin?
Kojima: It all started with the “Air Max 1 ”Elephant’” released in 2007. At the time, we were creating a series inspired by animals, and we designed models based on various animals, such as tigers and giraffes. This model, which combines an elephant print with Clear Jade, was created as part of that series. It was later reissued in 2017.

Fuinam: So you didn't start out thinking, "Let's make this the signature color of Atmos"?
Kojima: Exactly (laughs). Back then, it was probably too outlandish, so it didn’t sell very well. But as time went on, it began to be appreciated, and before we knew it, it had become one of the signature colors of “Atmos.”
Okajima: For me, they were the shoes I always admired. Of course, I couldn’t afford the originals, but whenever I saw my seniors wearing them, I’d think, “That color is so cool.” I’m part of the generation that learned about the Clear Jade story after the fact.
