Reborn BIG MAC and 4 Select Shops

The newly revamped Big Mac and four select stores.

BIG MAC" was born in the 1920s as a store brand by an American department store. At that time, the brand produced quality products with excellent functionality and gained a lot of support from workers. Currently, based on the design archives accumulated over its long history, the brand is developing products with rearranged silhouettes and materials starting from the 2019 AW season. While many select stores and brands have begun handling special-order models and in-line collections, this time, the brand has been selected by "BEAMS," "FREAKS STORE," "CIAOPANIC," "HIGH! STANDARD". STANDARD. We asked the MDs and buyers who are most familiar with the products to tell us about the appeal of the newly reborn "Big Mac.

FOUCUS04_ HIGH! STANDARD

. Not to leave it as it was at the time, but to give it a new twist. I like that attitude.

Do you have any feelings about the "Big Mac" brand itself?

Even before I entered the apparel industry, I had seen flannel shirts at vintage clothing stores and import stores that dealt in dead stock, and I owned several myself, so it was a brand I really liked. So, when I learned that "Big Mac" was to be launched in Japan with a new look, it brought back memories of those days and I remember being deeply moved.

. When you actually hold the item in your hand, I'm sure you must have felt some differences from the original.

In the case of the flannel shirts introduced here, heavy-weight flannel fabrics were representative of "Big Mac", weren't they? I like the way you have not only reissued the same fabric as it was back then, but have also given it a new twist by incorporating it into a coverall jacket, making it an oversilhouette shirt with a wider body, and adding the iconic bow-tie flasher.

You were attracted to the reborn part.

To be honest, I don't think customers will be able to get a sense of the "Big Mac" as it was in the past. I think it was very good of them to redesign it in this way. I myself am pleased both to see the rebranding with a modern sensibility and to be able to handle the rebranded products myself. I am very pleased with both of them.

Do you think that the younger generation is responding more?

Yes, that's right. This is true for rebranded brands in general, but the generation that knows the originals often pick them up out of nostalgia, while younger customers seem to choose them purely for the appeal of the item, such as the interesting details, regardless of the brand's background and history. I feel that younger customers choose our products purely for their attractiveness as items, such as the interesting details, without regard to the brand's background or history.

. Then the way of styling will also change, won't it?

We tend to think, "How can I put this together in this way? But the younger generation doesn't have that problem, so they wear their clothes freely. But the younger generation doesn't have that problem, so they wear their clothes freely. I think this is more interesting and fits the current atmosphere. I also think that one of the reasons for their popularity is their reasonable prices. The price is affordable, and it can be used in a rough, everyday way. One of the attractions of our products is that they are positioned close to the original workwear and daily wear. As a result, our products are accepted by customers of all ages. Many of our current items make me want to wear them more than ever before.

Hi! The Standard has selected 3 Big Mac products.

The store, which is well versed in the history and appeal of American Standard, is suddenly pushing its in-line collection. This time, we have selected two varieties, one based on the coveralls and the other on overalls, the royal road to workwear. All of them are excellent pieces that can be worn without being overbearing.

ITEM01_ COVERALL SHIRT

A mash-up of the classic coveralls as well as the brand's iconic material.

¥13,000+TAX
The body is made of heavyweight cotton flannel, the symbol of the "Big Mac" brand,
. The design itself is an oddity: a basic coverall type with four pockets on the front.
The silhouette has a relaxed feel with a wider body width,
It will show its ability in layering this season. Available in three colors.

The flannel fabric has a soft, hand-woven texture unique to shuttle looms.
This tag on the back of the neck was sampled from a design used mainly on flannel shirts from the 1970s.
When you start to notice these little details, you can enjoy them a lot more.

The original buttons with the logo also work well to create a classic look.

Shirt cuffs with adjustable fitting .
The arrangement shines through in a way that ordinary coveralls do not.

The lower front pocket is gusseted to improve storage capacity.
. helps to make it a compelling shirt jacket.

ITEM02_ TYPEWRITER COVERALL

Its elegant European appearance can be dressed up or down.

¥13,000+TAX
Like the aforementioned shirt coveralls, the coverall design is retained, but the material is twisted.
Because it is made of a typewriter fabric, washing will create a puckering effect and stains will turn into an "agi" (an old-fashioned look).
It is also fun to use it to dress up with a European flair.
The same fabric is also available in all-white , stand and regular collar shirts.

Flashers that resemble bow ties are included with the shirts.
It is also fun to imagine, "Was this the way people wore them in those days?

Front left chest pocket. The gusset is also vintage-like.
A pocket with a flap is also provided on the opposite side.

Durability is essential for workwear. The symbol of this is the strong three stitches.
With each repeated washing, the fabric hangs, allowing the wearer to enjoy a three-dimensional puckering effect.

, a typewriter fabric that was not originally used in Big Mac items.
Despite its high density, it is thin and lightweight. Because of its unique firmness, its expression is somewhat elegant.

ITEM03_ DENIM OVERALL

. inheriting the atmosphere of the origin, but easily adapted to the contemporary style.

¥14,000+TAX
. 10 oz. denim fabric with gray top yarn in the weft.
The light-touch fabric and moderately roomy silhouette diminish the overalls' inherent drabness,
. It is finished in a way that makes it easy to match with current outfits. In addition to the pockets in the bib (breastplate) area,
Painter's version with scale pocket and hammer hook. Available in two colors.

The metal fittings and other accessory parts also evoke the atmosphere of the time when the original model was released.

. This work is designed with a size-adjustable shoulder strap that fastens like a suspender at the back.
This shape is called the low-back style , and is often seen in vintage styles.
Part of the straps are elasticized to prevent stress when moving.

. Looking at the back, we see a slake with the brand's logo printed on it.

This flasher, like the included parts, also has a classical atmosphere.
It is so well designed that it would be a shame to remove it.
