It should be clothes that make the most of a slightly quirky outfit.
When you were designing the blouson, were there any other shapes other than this one? For example, a military jacket?
Uda:There was no such thing. I wanted to wear this kind of dazzler, so I made it.
Hori family:If we don't design something that we would wear, we would be lying to our customers, so we don't make items that we wouldn't wear but that would sell if we made them. So we always ask, "Uda-chan, would you wear this? I always ask, "Uda-chan, would you wear this?
I see.
Hori family:If there is something I want you to make, but Uda-chan won't wear it, I try to find out why she won't wear it. I try to find out why she doesn't wear it. It is unexpectedly important to dig deeper into the reasons for likes and dislikes, and in the end, I find out what I and the other person are thinking, which can have a positive impact on the landing of the design.

Uda:As I mentioned earlier, I really think of it as a collaborative process. I think that the opinions of the moat makers and the stores are very important. The final fine-tuning is always done at the store.
Hori family:When the design is 90% complete and I am not sure about the last part, I usually say, "Well, let's go to the store.
So you ask the staff for their opinions.
Hori family:Yes, I do. Communication with the staff is a motivating factor for Uda-chan, and it is the same for our staff. When the project is finished, we part ways over beer and yakiniku (barbecue) (laughs).
I understand that in the spring you will be releasing a reissue of your previously released denim, as well as new chinos and military shirts.

From UDA official Look
Uda:We are making more and more products as if we are being chased....
Hori family:Uda-chan is slow to start moving, so I just plan ahead and tell her about it (laughs). (Laughs.) She is the type of person who does her homework in the second half of the day.
Uda:If I am told what to do in the middle of a task, my mind goes to that task and I cannot organize it. Therefore, I finish the task in front of me before moving on to the next one.
Hori family:There are other items that I would like to wear, but if I tell him now, I might go over my capacity, so I am keeping quiet about it (laughs). (laughs) But I think that is what is good about him. He values each and every one of them.
Uda:For other brands, it would be easier to convey their image by showing their collections, but in my case, I don't think it is necessary to show my own clothes in their entirety. I think it is better if the clothes are like an effective color accent in a coordinated look, and if the clothes make the most of a slightly peculiar style.
Do you have any goals for the future?
Uda:We are working hard, one by one. I don't have a big goal. I just make one garment at a time with care. It's the same as it is now.
Hori family:Uda-chan said earlier that it is a joint effort, but the final work is separate from each other. I am thinking about the restaurant and the customers, and I have to do what makes people happy. I hope to support Uda-chan so that we can work together to realize his ideas, even if only a little. I would like to continue to create a system that accepts what I create with one ball and one soul.
