Sneaker Freak's Realistic Shoe Selection.
Vol.1 Motofumi "POGGY" Ogi

The sneaker market continues to expand, with the latest performance shoes, limited editions, collaborations, faithful reissues, and even top maisons participating. What are the perspectives of the sneaker experts, what models do they choose, and what do they actually wear? We will introduce the real shoe choices of the industry's leading sneaker freaks in a relay format. In this first installment, we introduce Mr. Motoshi "POGGY" Ogi, a world-renowned Japanese fashion icon and a sneaker enthusiast to the core. We asked him to pick out the five pairs he has been wearing most recently, and asked him why he chose each pair and what he likes about them.

03:NIKE×sacai_LD WAFFLE I bought 4 pairs in different colors. That's how much I like them.

And then there is the "LD Waffle" by Nike and Sakai. The color is quite different from the previous two pairs.

Ogi:I like these so much. I like them so much that I bought four pairs in different colors (laugh).

What did you like so much about it?

Ogi:The coloring and shape. The exquisite coloring, which does not seem to be possible, is as expected from "SAKAI. I think the coloring is superb. I often wear suits, so I am often attracted to sneakers with a sharp shape similar to leather shoes, but the shape of these shoes is so sharp and beautiful that it would not look out of place with a suit.

Do you not like the recent trend of "dad shoes" with a fat form?

Ogi:Trends aside, I myself am not sure if I would be able to wear them well. I also have a leather version of this series, but the leather gives a subtle rounded look. The mesh material gives a sharper look, which I like.

04: New Balance_327 An ambitious mashup of classic works of the past.

And next is the "327" by New Balance. These shoes were just released this year.

Ogi:The reason I chose these is, first of all, the beautiful coloring. Like the navy blue and yellow of the "Dunk," I am attracted to sneakers that incorporate vivid yellow well.

Another is the unique design. These shoes were designed by mashing up several masterpieces from the 1970s. While I feel that this approach is not unlike New Balance, in a good way, the unexpectedness of it is also interesting, and the silhouette has a modern feel to it.

Even though they are based on a classic sneaker, they have a somewhat modern feel to them.

Ogi:It has a designer sneaker feel to it, which I like.
