Sneaker Freak's Realistic Shoe Selection.
Vol.1 Motofumi "POGGY" Ogi

The sneaker market continues to expand, with the latest performance shoes, limited editions, collaborations, faithful reissues, and even top maisons participating. What are the perspectives of the sneaker experts, what models do they choose, and what do they actually wear? We will introduce the real shoe choices of the industry's leading sneaker freaks in a relay format. In this first installment, we introduce Mr. Motoshi "POGGY" Ogi, a world-renowned Japanese fashion icon and a sneaker enthusiast to the core. We asked him to pick out the five pairs he has been wearing most recently, and asked him why he chose each pair and what he likes about them.

05:NIKE_SPACE HIPPIE 03 Sustainable yet stylish.

Last but not least is Nike's "Space Hippie 03. This sneaker was also just released this year, and has created a buzz for its use of a renewable material called "space waste yarn.

Ogi:In the past few years, "sustainable" has become a keyword in various fields. The fashion industry is no exception. This trend is particularly strong in Europe and the United States, where exhibitions on the theme of sustainability are being held.

However, many of the "sustainable" products that have been released in the past have been subtle in design, even if the concept is agreeable. The "Space Hippie" collection, however, is unquestionably cool, as one would expect from Nike.

It is a product that is typical of Nike, with its advanced design and approach to sustainability.

Ogi:I think this is an ambitious and challenging product that is typical of Nike. Not only these shoes, but "sustainable" will become an essential element in the sneaker scene in the future.

After the Corona disaster, his view of sneakers changed.

Until now, mass production and mass consumption have been the norm for fashion and sneakers. Do you think that a different approach will be required in the future?

Ogi:I am from the generation of "clothes fools," and I have lived my whole life thinking that I wanted to own a lot of clothes and shoes. But this time, when I was living a life of self-restraint due to Corona, I looked at the large number of shoes and sneakers lined up in my shoe rack at home, and I thought about it all over again. I wondered if I could really continue to live like this for a long time to come.

Until now, there has been a tendency to think that "the most advanced things are the best," and I myself used to think so, but those days are over, and perhaps the time has come to reevaluate the merits of things that have been around for a long time. I feel that such a trend has been going on since before Corona. This trend existed even before the Corona disaster, and I think it has been accelerated by the Corona disaster. That's actually why I mentioned "Dunk" and "Chuck Taylor" vintages at the beginning of this interview.

I see. Sneakers make me think about many things again. I could go on and on, but I think it's time to send your friends to .......

Ogi:I would like to introduce Mr. Manabu Tsuyoshi, the designer of FDMTL. Mr. Tsuyoshi is a sneaker freak so deep that I am not even close to his feet. I'm sure he will come up with some interesting and maniacal sneakers.

I'm looking forward to it. Thank you very much for your time today!
