Justice in the name of enjoyment, as seen in the 10 Sagan Festival.

For about 50 days from July 1 (Wed) to August 18 (Tue), brands from L.A. and Tokyo that have a connection with director Pigu will gather to sell collaborative items and hold a summer festival event called "10 SAGBOX MATSURI" where you can play like at a fair. The stage is set for the "10 SAGBAKO MATSURI," a summer festival event where visitors can enjoy a fair-like atmosphere and buy collaborative items. The stage for this event is the 2nd floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku, which has just undergone a remodeling this year. Here is a report on this event with lots of contents and comments from friends who collaborated with us.

The voices of Pigu's friends.

The designers of the brands that participated in the "10 Saggars Festival" at Pigu's call and collaborated with are like friends. So, we asked him about the items in this collection. Mr. Pigu has a wide range of friendships in the U.S., Japan, and Singapore. You can sense the new mood that the brands are creating, which is in line with the current times!

Q:What will you and Pigu talk about?

A:We've been meeting often in Los Angeles for several years now, but we never talk about clothes, only about the oneechan we like. We drank until morning last summer, and that day we were still talking about oneechan.

Q:What kind of items are in this collaboration?

A:I wanted to do something other than clothing, so I decided on accessories. I wanted to create a design that would be worn all the time, like a talisman. I am not good at making unique items that no one has ever seen before, so I asked skilled craftsmen to hand-make traditional motifs.

Q:You have been to Japan before, but have you ever been to a summer festival in Japan?

A:My wife Shirley tells me that summers in Japan are very hot. I think she visited Japan to see her family, but she told me that I should stay away from summer because it is hot and sticky (laughs). I have never been to a summer festival, but I have seen one on "Terrace House! It looked like a lot of fun, so I would love to go sometime.

Q:What kind of items are in this collaboration?

A:Pigu and I designed three items for the 10 Saggars Festival. The handheld fan has an LED light that shows letters when you turn it, and the T-shirt and tote are decorated with a drawing of an octopus that Pigu and I had done for "10 sacks" before. Other items on sale include T-shirts in colors limited to Isetan and caps embroidered with the brand's catchphrase.

Q:You are developing multiple projects. What is important to you in "Office and Gallery"?

A:As a person with Nigerian roots, I approach my background in all aspects of the brand Office and Gallery and try to express it in various ways.

Q:What kind of items are in this collaboration?

A:One of the most important aspects of my work is to be precise. The symbol of accuracy is a ruler, right? That is why we created a ruler that we use every day.

Q:Did you meet Mr. Pigu when you were in Tokyo?

A:Yes, we used to work for the same company. We didn't get involved in business, but we became friends through our common hobby of surfing, and here we are today. I moved to Singapore in 2013 and started a boutique in Singapore with Kawamura, the representative of the company.

Q:What kind of items are in this collaboration?

A:The first is a triple collaboration with "Paraboots," which started when Pigu came to visit us in the summer of 2018 and happened to be wearing them, and we started chatting about what we wanted to do. Last year, we made a special order of Gurkha sandals "Pacific" as the first step, and this is the second step. The concept was to create shoes with a mixture of black and brown colors. This time, the concept was to create a second pair of Gurkha sandals in black and brown, free from the rule of matching the color of the shoes and the belt, and to be able to use one pair as if they were two pairs, making them ideal for travel.
The other shirt was made because I wanted a long-sleeved version of a drug dealer shirt that only has short sleeves. Long sleeves are useful all year round because of the cold mornings and evenings and the cold airplanes overseas, even in summer. For the fabric, we used linen 100%, the same as last year. Linen is cooler when it is wrinkled, and I like that I don't have to worry about it.
