HIYORI CHAPTER KYOTO

Emotion over information.
A trip of extremely private essays proposed by a hotel in Kyoto.

The HIYORI Chapter Kyoto Tribute Portfolio Hotel opened in Kyoto City in June 2021. Although it may sound a bit daunting to hear that the hotel is affiliated with Marriott, one of the world's largest hotel chains, the space and service you will actually experience is firmly rooted in warm blood. This may have a little something to do with the hotel's original service, the "palm-sensitive one-stroke note. The hotel's philosophy of valuing emotion over information was unique among the many hotels in Kyoto.

What the hotel proposes to do in order to enjoy the emotion.

After all, what is the individuality of a hotel? The original service of this hotel, HIYORI Chapter Kyoto Tribute Portfolio Hotel, was born as a result of such core-oriented thinking.

Its services are located just off the entrance lobby. That is the CHAPTER FACTORY. Here you will find 50 sheets of short essay-style travel stories called "Tenohira Ichibunshi," or 50 stories. These one-stroke notes do not contain information on tourist spots or the hottest stores, but rather a record of the writer's journey from his or her point of view.

The writers were city residents of Kyoto, from temple monks to hotel managers to part-time housewives and students. By no means are any things or places recommended. You can read with taste their personal thoughts, perspectives, and memories of their travels. You can travel based on this extremely personal essay, or simply enjoy reading it. Either way, you will find the nourishing travel interesting.

Ado Ishino undertakes a variety of projects across Japan under a diverse array of titles, including creative director, editor, and writer.

who served as editor-in-chief of this service.Ado Ishinois thinking "Emotion over Information". It raises questions about the kind of travel that consumes information and, to a large extent, such a way of life. Reading "A Handful of Notes," it seems to me that the real pleasure of travel lies in the personal memories, feelings, and perspectives that are created regardless of the fame, notoriety, or scale of a place.

Seeing is believing. Here are five one-page notes that Mr. Ado wrote as samples when he conceived this service.
