A free computer that accompanies Shohei Matsumoto's diverse activities.

ASUS is a Taiwanese company that develops digital devices indispensable to modern life, such as notebook computers, gaming products, smartphones, and tablets. ASUS boasts a top-class share of the global market thanks to its reliable performance and convenience. The ASUS Vivobook 13 Slate OLED, a 2-in-1 model running Windows 11 and featuring a 13.3" OLED display, joins a rich lineup of models ranging from entry-level to high-spec models. How will the new ASUS model fit in with the lifestyle of Shohei Matsumoto, who is active not only in the theater but also in all other fields?

Use different computers for different purposes.

Ms. Matsunomi's wide range of activities is impressive. You once held a pop-up restaurant called "PELLS coffee&bar" to sell your Lujhihan (Chinese-style rice) dishes.

Matsunokawa:When I lived in Taiwan, I used to eat roast rice very often, but there were not many restaurants in Japan where I could eat delicious roast rice. So I asked a professional chef to arrange a recipe that I had made at home, and I was able to set up a pop-up restaurant. Since then, I have been coming here to drink coffee and talk with the staff.

What else have you been doing recently?

Matsunokawa:I work as an actor and model, edit videos as a hobby, and make flyers for events requested by my friend. My girlfriend is a musician, and we both like to make things with our hands, so we make things while playing together.

I understand that you use Adobe software such as Premier and Illustrator. What kind of computer do you usually use?

Matsunokawa:I use Adobe software on my desktop computer at home, and I use an ASUS laptop computer for writing my columns. Since I started living in two locations, I have more opportunities to carry my computer around than before, so I bought a rugged, shock-resistant "ASUS" laptop. The affordable price was also a deciding factor in my purchase. I find it easier to organize my data when I use different computers for different purposes, and it also helps me to switch my mindset toward my work.

What kind of images are you making?

Matsunokawa:Fujietakuma and Yorio Higashida from the same office made an independent short film together,YouTubeThe film is uploaded to the website. I used to make independent films all through my college years, but after a long time, it is still fun to try it. 3 of us decided to take turns directing and writing the script, with the other members appearing in the film and relaying the camera while shooting, and we are making the film through trial and error.

Up until now, Ryu Morioka, the president of the office, has been doing the planning and editing, but Ryu himself is very busy with acting and directing, so we decided that we needed to do our own work and started to study. I can use a little bit of premier, but it's just for fun, so I'm learning together with everyone else.

The tablet-style design makes it easy to communicate with others. It supports the Wi-Fi6 ultra-high-speed communication standard and can be charged from a mobile battery via a USB Type-C connector, so you can use it for Internet communication on the go without worrying about remaining battery power.

I can see from your activities that you enjoy doing what you want to do.

Matsunokawa:The office has an atmosphere of "do what you want to do," and we all gather at Ryu's house to share our thoughts and discuss what we are thinking about, while working freely. So it feels more like a close-knit community than an office.

Do you want to direct commercial films eventually?

Matsunokawa:That remains to be seen! I have only made independent films, and I think commercial films are in a different place. Directors who make commercial films are amazing, aren't they?
