Born in Wakayama in 1955 . Together with Beat Takeshi and Tamori, he is known as one of the "Big 3" and a leader in the comedy world. In addition to appearing on TV and stage as a celebrity, he is also active as an actor and film producer. Currently, he is the host of many popular long-running TV programs.
I remember vividly my first encounter with Dsquared2.
You drank coffee during the shoot, but you only drink iced coffee, right?
I can drink hot coffee, but when I came across Kona vanilla coffee, macadamia nut coffee, and other Hawaiian coffees, I thought they tasted better iced. . So I kept buying them, and I ended up drinking only iced coffee.
Do you drink coffee in the morning?
I tend to sleep in until the last minute, but coffee, cigarettes, and vegetable juice are the only things I make sure to have, even if I'm late. I cannot break this routine. I often drink coffee and smoke cigarettes at home while I am late (laughs).
When do you decide what to wear that day?
. I'm busy in the morning, so the night before is most of the time.

Do you buy your own clothes?
Yes, that's right. In the case of Dsquared2, the store staff would call me with information on new arrivals on their own (laughs), and they would keep them on hold, so I would say, "Yeah! (laugh). The same goes for the cars; the people in the office change the cars on their own, so when you wake up in the morning, a different car is parked in the lot (laughs).
Do you remember how you first met Dsquared2?
Dsquared2 was not in Japan 25 or 26 years ago. I went to Los Angeles for a travel show called "Sanma, Tamao, Miyoko no Ikihara Battari Chinmichi Chu" (Sanma, Tamao, Miyoko's Curious Road Trip), and my girlfriend at the time was a stylist who arranged everything for me using this brand.
I was wearing a Dsquared2 outfit at the time that had a one-pointed mark of a whale on it, and I thought it was the brand's logo, but when I was riding my bike, the wind blew it away.... But when I was riding my bike, the wind blew it away. That was my first Dsquared2 outfit. Everyone told me that this brand's clothes fit my body. From there, I started wearing Dsquared2 on TV sometimes.
It was right around the time that Dsquared2 started.
Yes, yes. So, maybe you are the first person to wear Dsquared2 in Japan.

Yes, I was really lucky. If I had been a professional boxer, I would not have had to lose so much weight. Thanks to you, I am grateful. It's really easy.
. It's good for clothes, isn't it?
I like to be slim, too. . . because of my age, I think about clothes being too flashy or something, so I try to be flashy in just one point, and I'm over 60, so I've started to think about that kind of thing.
. In this and other ways, Mr. Sanma's fashion stands out for its cleanliness.
That's the only thing I try to take care of. Cleanliness is the least I can do. In that sense, Dsquared2 has a beautiful shape and is perfect.

About three years ago, I heard from a clerk at Dsquared2's New York store that the brand had released its first line of saltwater pants, and I immediately bought a pair. Every time I go to the beach in Australia, I go with about 20 people, including various family members, and I dare to wear flashy saltwater pants because junior high school girls and others get so excited.
