Photo report on Shibuya Parco's 3rd anniversary night.
& limited items shopping addict without permission!

Shibuya PARCO, which is always a hot topic every month, has been moving forward with a variety of campaigns based on its abundance of ideas, and the gears that began moving in 2019 have been further refined and gained momentum over the past three years. On November 18, a reception was held to celebrate their 3rd anniversary. This year's theme was "Sound. Music played throughout the building, and both guests and staff alike were grooving to the sounds. In this issue, we report on the atmosphere at the reception in the form of photos and text.
In addition, we have taken the liberty of shopping addicts for about 50 limited edition items that will be available for the anniversary! Please also see the no-discovery, very personal introduction.

World-class creators and artists who graced the 3rd anniversary.

The entrance to the exhibition was greeted by "Bonsai 356," a collaboration between PORSCHE and American contemporary artist Daniell Arsham.

The 1955 "Porsche 356 Speedster" is used in this drivable work, which expresses the Japanese aesthetic of "wabi-sabi" by exposing the raw materials. The artist spent about two years in the making of the work to reveal the car's age and wear, while staying close to the history of the car's manufacture.

The interiors were created with the commitment to work with Japanese fashion designers Motoshi "Poggy" Ogi and Fujihara Yutaka, and include indigo-dyed patchwork textiles, indigo-dyed cotton fabric, Japanese denim, and other traditional Japanese fabrics.

In its majestic appearance, you can feel the trajectory that "Porsche" has taken. The exhibition has already ended at the Park Avenue entrance on the first floor of Shibuya PARCO, but will continue to tour to Porsche Studio Ginza and Porsche Studio Nihonbashi. Please visit the other venues.

©︎James Jarvis Courtesy of Nanzuka

The "PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO" on the 4th floor was dyed pink by James Jarvis, an artist based in London, England. Just last year, he held an exhibition at the gallery "NANZUKA" in 2G, and now he has returned to Shibuya PARCO to celebrate its 3rd anniversary.

This exhibition was a new challenge for Jarvis, as it was a parody to the German educational institution "Bauhaus," but also sublimated Japanese "Kawaii" culture.

Live painting was held in the Fred Perry store on the 3rd floor. At the center of the event was Karin Osha, a multi-talented artist and model. Dressed in a white polo shirt and white painted pants, she painted the walls of the store. The red and blue paint looked vivid in the completely empty store, creating a rare space where art and fashion coexist.

Also, actor/model Seirai Anzai made a special visit to the Marc Jacobs store on the 2nd floor. He was wearing a full-body "Marc Jacobs" outfit, which, combined with his own cool atmosphere, created a solid styling.

DJ/producer "Night Tempo," one of the leading figures in the global revival of Japanese city pop, came to Japan from South Korea to collaborate with Loewe for one night. The event drew a record turnout of people who heard about the event. The Showa-era pop music of the Showa period echoed through the streets of Spanish Slope.

DJ DARUMA & JOMMY appeared at the pop-up space on the 1st floor "WAVE". Although it was a temporary DJ space, the way they brought their own atmosphere to the floor was as expected. The floor was filled with the customers who came to see the show.

CALPISS DJ'd next to "UNDERCOVER NOISE LAB" on the 2nd floor, and PELI and UNO FUMI DJ'd in front of "CASETiFY STUDiO" on the 3rd floor. Customers who were shopping stopped to listen to the DJs, and we witnessed the moment when music and life became connected.

In the atrium next to the escalators on the 4th floor, three groups, SONIKKU, MIQ ADDAMS, and SZK from WASABITCHcream DJ's, took turns DJing. When the interview team went to the venue, it was just time for MIQ ADDAMS to DJ. The space was filled with refrigerators, sofas, and other household items, creating a mysterious atmosphere.

At "Fan" on the 3rd floor, the space normally used as a cash register was turned into a DJ space, and with the appearance of DJ Bungo and others, it instantly became a mellow space. And not to forget the 10th floor "ComMunE"...

∈Y∋ (BOREDOMS) and TYO GQOM, a GQOM party crew from Japan. The music selections and arrangements were sure to blow away the Friday night doldrums, making not only the fans but also the entire audience dance. Among the performers, the crew paid particular attention to a grandmother who was dancing her heart out! It made us realize that music does not care what generation you are.

As is typical of this year's theme of "Sound," the reception featured a wide variety of music. Temporary DJ booths were set up at the bottom of escalators, on the sides of aisles, and at store checkout counters, where DJs were playing their best music. The shopping space and the music space were connected to each other, and it was surprising to see how closely music is connected to our daily lives. At the same time, one realizes that Shibuya PARCO itself is a large container that welcomes all kinds of people and music.

Throughout the entire 3rd anniversary reception, I felt again that "Shibuya PARCO" is a pavilion that will continue to create the times, working abundantly as a device to create a vortex of culture. I would like to end this report with this realization. Happy 3rd anniversary, Shibuya PARCO!

Self-serving shopping addict.

To commemorate the anniversary, about 50 limited items will be released from each store. I heard rumors of such a release, and when I looked around the official website, I found that some of the familiar brands had limited edition colors, and some had graphics created in collaboration with Parco, and I found that I had a strange appetite. So, we took the liberty of conducting a special edition of HOUYHNHNM's famous "Shopping Addict" project! Five young editorial staff members will pick up items they are interested in and introduce them from a very personal perspective.

Shibuya Parco was renovated almost simultaneously with my arrival in Tokyo. I have been quite indebted to them both publicly and privately for the past three years. Thank you very much . . If I had my way, I would like to work on catchphrases like Takashi Nakahata. . I wonder how many years PARCO will be celebrating then.

ANREALAGE

Anrealage sweatshirt

A to Z

The first thing that comes to mind when one hears the word "PARCO" is the iconic logo with intersecting stripes. This piece is designed with the A and Z of "Anrealage" superimposed on the motif of such typography, which never gets old no matter how much time passes. The large print size makes a good statement even when inserted into a coat or a down coat's innerwear. The monotone color of the print makes it stand out without being obtrusive, and it could be an expression of Parco, where you can find anything you need in A to Z. .

. I have visited the museum more than 50 times, including interviews. Memories are scattered throughout the museum, and I have met many fascinating people. But I still want to go back because of the insatiable inquisitiveness and planning ability of the management staff. Whether as a customer or an editor, Shibuya Parco is always a place that makes my heart flutter!

FRED PERRY

Fred Perry track jacket

Size tight, of course.

I am easily influenced by visual things , so when I see an advertisement or something like that on the street, I immediately Google it. This time, I was in the mood for something like that. I like to wear this with center-pressed slacks and a stadium scarf, which gives me the "youth soccer powerhouse" look. This one from Fred Perry is made of a shiny tricot material, and while it looks like jersey, it's classy. It also comes in black, but I'm more in the mood for a rougher navy. By the way, going back to the beginning, this time I was a spectator at a live soccer game. I don't want to be a tennis player! I don't accept the "Oh, no, you didn't play tennis!

BAIT

Bait's Kinnikuman "Muscle Brothers" figure.

The half-open mouth is also a nice touch.

Forgive me , I am not familiar with Kinnikuman. . but I'm sure I'm drawn to it because of its enduring/universal appeal. BAIT's new collection, which is unrivaled in character collaboration, is based on the "Muscle Brothers" motif from the "Kinnikuman" manga. Although the Muscle Brothers have been released many times by other brands, this one stands out more for its lovability than for its muscular coolness. With its coloring and gentle form, this is an item that even non-enthusiasts would want to keep close by. The lottery sales have already ended at Parco, but there will be more information soon, so please look forward to it.

Coming from a rural area, I was astonished when I visited Shibuya PARCO for the first time. It was a completely different PARCO from the one I had always imagined. I hope that PARCO will continue to surprise us from various aspects such as fashion, food, and culture!

Kaneko Glasses

Niki Chain / Glass Cord by Kaneko Glasses

A talisman of glasses.

Just recently, I lost my favorite pair of glasses. This was a shock to me, but . I'm thinking that I definitely want to put a glass cord on my next pair of glasses, and it looks like the ones from "Kaneko Glasses" are going to work out great. Collaborated with Niki, an order jewelry brand, the design is made of black onyx and golden pyrite, a natural stone, and has just the right amount of assertiveness. It is sure to be a perfect complement to your eyeglasses and an accessory to add color to your face.

A.P.C.

A.P.C. scarf

Pastel colors for the winter neck.

Every year at this time of year, I have a hard time with the drafts around my neck. So this year, I'm thinking of incorporating a scarf into my outfit, and I'm sure I'll be able to find a scarf that works for me. Since winter outfits are usually dark in tone, I personally like to use something brighter as a color scheme. This scarf from " A.P.C. " is a tartan check with green points in light pastel colors, and I think it will accentuate my neck. The colors are rather pretty, so it would be a good gift for women.

In celebration of its 3rd anniversary of renovation, Shibuya Parco is currently undergoing a rush of events that have been going on for 17 consecutive days. . I went to three events, the opening, GIRL HOUYHNHNM, and Newt Magazine, all of which were enjoyable events. I just checked the website and saw that there was also a "SOMA" pop-up. I completely missed it .

THE NORTH FACE LAB

The North Face Lab Jacket

A jacket that makes you feel good inside.

. I'm not attracted to products that are entirely sustainable. (Personally, I am not attracted to products that are entirely sustainable.) After all, what appeals to me is a piece of clothing that is well-designed and functional. I feel added value in the experience of purchasing clothes that happen to be eco-friendly items. The jacket we selected here is made of three-layer GORE-TEX, which is waterproof, breathable, tough, and lightweight. The gray-based color block and wide-bodied, short-length design create an extremely modern, urban mood. Yet, it is an ideal eco-friendly garment that requires less fabric waste than conventional items.

nest Robe / CONFECT

Upcycled lino hoodies and sweatpants

. Super-convenient set-up with natural dyed and lined fabrics.

Isn't this faded texture appealing? This set-up is made with natural dyes such as indigo and sumi ink, and has a rough, uneven texture that chemical dyes do not have. The wool lining provides excellent heat retention and water absorbency, making it a fashion item as well as a light workout wear. When you are not running at the gym, you don't sweat much, so if you wear this with a light down jacket, you will be able to go to the gym empty-handed.

"Have you been to the new Parco yet?" was the watchword three years ago, wasn't it? Different people stop by on different floors, so each floor has its own set of memories. This year, the rooftop floor, where HOUYHNHNM's event was held, joins that group of memories.

HAT MAKER KIJIMA TAKAYUKI

Aviator cap by Takayuki Kijima

I'll just get my hat on.

Pretentious phrases are effective when the occasion calls for it, but they are not good if they are overused. . I am well aware of this, but it is the conceitedness of the editor that makes me want to use it. Aviator" is an old term for a pilot, and in "Top Gun" when Tom Cruise is asked "You're a pilot? In "Top Gun," Tom Cruise is asked, "You're a pilot? A naval aviator. That's right.

ISSEY MIYAKE SHIBUYA

Good Goods Issey Miyake Tote

Winter is the time to be flashy.

I hate winter. I really hate winter. My back feels stiff from walking with my back rounded, and the relentless northerly winds that creep up on me no matter how much I put on. The tone of the city is much darker than in the summer, and as I am easily influenced, my mood also becomes darker. Every year, I try to choose something flashy and colorful to lift my spirits. . So, this year, this bag available at ISSEY MIYAKE SHIBUYA seems to be a good choice.
