I want to show the package more than I want to show the clothes.

In the last issue, you mentioned that it takes time to share subtle sensations among staff members.

Hasegawa: Kagami, you like the mood of the 80's, don't you? Do you want to continue to play that kind of music?

Kagami: That's right. I want to make a brand that has a core, but I also want to make ordinary products, such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, suits, and coats, that are easy to wear, but have different visuals and a different worldview each season.

Looking at the official site, there are quite a lot of items.

Hasegawa: True. But I still think it's very 80's.

Kagami: Well, I like it. Maybe that's what's coming out.

Hasegawa: It's kind of like the DC brand of the time.

Kagami: That's right. Last fall/winter, I made clothes with that very image. I was inspired by the Crow Tribe.

Hasegawa: Also, it's insanely cheap. A coat costs 30,000 yen.

Kagami: So even if they sell, they don't make much profit (laughs).

Hasegawa: Do you have cushions?

Kagami: Yes, there is. A very big one.

Hasegawa: You mean like a hug pillow?

Kagami: We make a big cushion every season.

Hasegawa: That's also very 80's.

Kagami: Even if I wanted to make something like this myself, I couldn't. So I had it made. So I had it made. I wanted to make it bigger, but they said, "It won't sell" (laughs). In the end, clothes and cushions like this don't sell unless someone wears them or introduces them to someone else.

Sepabus' creations show off the clothes in the season's visuals, but I don't think they try to show off the clothes so much in other parts of the show.

Kagami: Rather than wanting to show the clothes up front, we want to show the package. It's more like a brand's worldview. The same goes for the visuals you create, right, Hasegawa? The styling images are created as works of art. It is not so much the clothes themselves, but the mood of the wearer.

Hasegawa: A brand cannot exist without an image, right? Even if a single company manages various brands, they all have the same basic concept, don't they? How they differentiate themselves is through their worldview and image. In this sense, I think that the impression one gets from a logo is important.

Kagami: To what extent do exhibitions and fashion shows make sense?

Hasegawa: I also feel like the fashion show is only for people who are really interested in it.

Kagami: Have you ever seen the Sepabus fashion show? Susumu Shibukawa walks down the runway holding a hanger. That's just a challenge to the existing fashion shows. Instead of having the models walk down the runway wearing their clothes, the director himself walked down the runway holding a hanger. And they are doing this at Sepabus (laughs).
