Keiji Kaneko and Bauwah create something charming.

Buyer Keiji Kaneko delves into all things related to fashion in his Series "Korobure Techo. This time, Kenichi Gongmori, director of "Bow Wow," who looks at vintage clothing from the perspective of the street, makes an appearance. Mr. Kaneko took items from this brand, which specializes in realistic vintage processing, and cooked them up to create clothing that is wonderfully rustic and "charming. The two discuss fashion with a focus on vintage clothing, and also provide a record of their endless passion for clothing, including the background behind the creation of this collection.

I want to convey the message, "These clothes are amazing.

I've already said a lot in the introduction, but here comes the main question (laughs). This time, the two of you worked together, or rather, Mr. Kaneko made some arrangements.

Kaneko: I don't know if I would call it an arrangement, but rather a request to stop working in the middle of the piece (laughs). (Laughs.) So we made items without processing. If you were to actually wear the Bow Wow fabrics, it would be a tremendous amount of work. These items were made so that I could experience it firsthand. I myself am of the generation that wants to grow up with deadstock and new items. The inline is the after, and this item is the before. I think this item conveys the greatness of the inline items and makes it easier to deliver various messages.

However, I think it is also a very risky thing to do. Processing is a characteristic of "Bau Wow," and subtracting it from the brand could erase the brand's appeal.

On the left is the processed model developed by Bow Wow's inline line, and on the right is a rigid model specially ordered by Mr. Kaneko.

Kaneko: There are fabrics that are suitable for processing. What I am trying to say is that even if you process vintage fabrics, they will not be beautiful. Knowing this, I asked Mr. Gongmori, "I want to do without processing. He said, "It's totally fine. He replied, "That's totally fine. I think there are a lot of processed clothes that would look cheap if they were untreated, but "Bow Wow" was different.

So you were proud of the fact that it was fine in its unprocessed state.

The same processed and unprocessed products. Comparing them in this way, we notice again the high quality of the processing, and at the same time, the quality of the original material stands out.

Rights holder: It's totally fine. As I mentioned earlier, the fabrics and patterns are already charming. For example, the flannel shirts are made in a large size, about 17 1/2.

Kaneko: It means you are making it in a size that was not available at the time.

Rights holder: This may be a different feeling from Mr. Kaneko's, but there was a time when I was trying to make cool clothes with cool patterns. But when I did that, I got tired of it. I don't like simply cool patterns. I thought a pattern with charm would be better.

Kaneko: I wonder. I'm still curious about the point of that charm.

Rights holder: I think it really depends on each person, so I can't make a blanket statement.

Kaneko: I got really excited when I saw the samples. They are all good items.

There are sweatpants, but if they are untreated, does that mean they won't be hemmed as well?

Rights holder: It's left uncut, because that's the charm (laughs).

Kaneko: (Laughter).

How did you select the items?

Kaneko: I chose the one I wanted to use. The criteria were, at any rate, those that were badly processed. At first glance, the lineup seems to be unconnected, but I selected items that I would like to see the prototype of, and would like to wear and grow from there. There were some interesting items in herringbone military fabrics, but you can find prototypes of those in vintage clothing. So, I selected items that are somewhat minor.

Rights holder: When I heard the idea, I thought it was a great idea. I thought it was simply interesting. The idea was right on target.

Kaneko: I simply want to grow up wearing Gonmori's clothes (laughs). (laughs) I also want to tell people that "these clothes are amazing. It is a combination of various feelings.

You mentioned the price earlier, but the price will be even lower because there is no labor cost for processing.

Kaneko: It's so cheap. I can't help but laugh (laughs).
