A bass fishing tournament "Bakusuri Mondai" held by HOUYHNHNM FISHING CLUB and friends! A day at Lake Turtle Island, where we all had fun together .

Finally, HOUYHNHNM FISHING CLUB teamed up with DAIWA and "BEFORE YOU WAKE UP" to hold a bass fishing tournament called "Boogie Woogie Bakkatsu Mondai"! A total of 30 people participated in the event, ranging from experienced anglers to first-time bass fishermen. HOUYHNHNM FISHING CLUB had dreamed of holding this tournament since its establishment, and we were very excited to be able to do so. However, just before the start time of the day, a serious problem occurred ......!

The beginning of a tumultuous chapter , Daijobu!

We were scheduled to start registration at 4:30 a.m. and sail at 5:30 a.m. , but to our surprise, a heavy rain warning was issued for the day: ....... Unless this warning is lifted, we will not be able to launch the boat. I can't believe this kind of trouble. . Since the rain has stopped, we decided to wait until the warning is lifted while we register and prepare for the event.

This time, Daiwa kindly provided us with rods for rent and lures. Thanks to this, even beginner bass anglers were able to reinforce their equipment, and the wide variety of lures was a great motivator!

Participants also received a "Bakumon" long T as a souvenir. The design was created by Yasuyuki Murayama, a designer for "Flagstaff.

Just before 8:00, the warning was finally lifted. The long-awaited tournament was about to begin! Due to the rain, the water quality was muddy and in a café au lait state . The water was muddy due to the rain, and floating debris such as driftwood was floating in the water, making conditions quite severe. The participants were running their boats to the spots that they thought would be suitable for the conditions.

As we arrived at our respective points and made our rounds, we spotted Yuhei Murata, press director of WAKOMARIA, and Mitsutaka Doji, director of Licht Adel, two ocean fishermen who go to the surf for flounder and maggot from the sandy beaches and fish for bluefish from the embankment.

Murata: I am from Shiga Prefecture, so I did a little bass fishing in Lake Biwa when I was a teenager, but it had been quite a while . . At first, I tried slowly reeling in a straight worm with a cat rig, or throwing a topwater shuttlecock and reeling it in with a pounding heart. I don't know where the bass are, so I imitate the people around me and throw it at the shore or overhangs. I'd like to get on the podium with beginner's luck.

Murata: I also like to go out at night, so a senior I met for the first time at a fishing spot told me, "I didn't know you could get up at this time of night. ( lol ) It's nice to fish together in the great outdoors with people you've only met in the city at night. I feel like a new bond was born.

Doji: I am new to bass fishing. I was planning to do boat sea bass, so I bought a rod and reel that can be used in conjunction with bass fishing. I threw spinnerbaits and vibrations, but I also used lures for the ocean. If I were fishing in the surf, I'd be running around reading the tides and looking for rip currents, but it's new to me to look around for points to fish from a boat. Anyway, it would be nice to catch even one fish. Well, I'm used to bowfishing even if I don't catch one , ( lol ).

Doji: When I go fishing for the first time, I like to ask my local uncle about places and ranges. So today, I enjoy learning about bass fishing from all kinds of people. I learned one thing when I was told that if I had my rod up on the tackle box like in ocean fishing, I would have to lay it down on the boat.

Within an hour of the start, I was notified on the group line of the fishing report!

The first angler to fish was Ron, who works as a store staff at "Palace Skateboards Tokyo" and is also a model. He fishes mainly in Lake Sagami and Lake Tsukui. The size he caught was 27.5 cm .

Ron: It was too muddy and I didn't know what the conditions were, so I just focused on reeling in the fish and used cranks, and I was able to catch them. . It was my first time in the tournament itself, so I was glad to get a result. I usually fish only on land, and I've only been on a boat a few times, so it was fresh and fun. My fishing vibes went up.

At 10:00, the "SWAGGER TIME" event started! Using the special SWAGGER version of Daiwa's "STEEZ The "SWAGGER PRIZE" will be awarded to the angler who catches the largest bass by 12:00 p.m. using the special SWAGGER version of Daiwa's "STEEZ Chiquita Frog.

At 12:00 , "SWAGGER TIME" was over. It was too muddy and there didn't seem to be any response to the frog. ...... No one qualified for the "SWAGGER PRIZE" , but the winner of the "BEFORE YOU WAKE Mr. Sato of "Daiwa" caught one fish that was a strong contender for the "BEFORE YOU WAKE UP Prize.

Eels! It's an outlier, but I envy you for catching it! By the way , Mr. Sato also caught a wataka, a member of the carp family.

Rokka, the model who got on the boat with Mr. Ryosuke Imai of Daiwa, the company that developed the SWAGGER, looked happy and smiling from start to finish. She has enjoyed ocean fishing since her days in her hometown of Kumamoto, but this was her first time bass fishing.

Rokka: I've done my prep work, but it's totally different when you actually do it. But I'm ready to fish! It's different from ocean fishing because you use a variety of lures, and I could see why you would want to master bass fishing.
