Huinamu Fishing Club's Lake Biwa Revenge Match.
Lake BIWA Again!

Huinamu Fishing Club's Lake Biwa Revenge Match.

Looking back, it was one year ago. One year ago, the Finamu Fishing Club came to Lake Biwa and was disappointed to have failed to catch any fish. The members of the club, who vowed to take revenge, came to Lake Biwa again! It was the perfect time of the year to feel the signs of autumn. The target was a big black bass, which is typical of Lake Biwa. This will be the fourth time for us to fish Lake Biwa, and this year, like last year, we will be fishing for two days and one night. The mother lake, the largest in Japan, was full of charm.

DAY 2
Morning time with great expectations. 50 was immediately available!

We gathered at the marina at 5:00 am. After getting ready, we set sail! Boating feels great after all. The speed of about 70 km/h is different from that of a car or motorcycle. Unlike the ocean, there are no waves, so it feels more like gliding than running on the lake. The temperature is about 20 degrees Celsius, which is just right, and the wind blowing on your whole body is great. We arrived at the first point in about 20 minutes, enjoying the view of the vast Lake Biwa.

This is a place where bass are active during the day because small fish, the bass bait, and lotus are migrating around the stone piles, creating shadows even after the sun rises. I start casting with a lure recommended by Mr. Hakusui, which I got last night. The small fish start moving and the bass are more active first thing in the morning. Looking back on my past fishing trips to Lake Biwa, this is the hottest time of the day. After a while, you see, it was early! Ikemoto caught a 50 cm bass on his third cast!

Ikemoto:A new personal best! I didn't know it was 50, but it was heavy anyway. It was like catching a fish in the ocean. As Mr. Hakusui told me, I threw it to the cape and it bit me before I landed on the bottom. I was so excited that I don't remember the rest. ( lol ).

The hit lure was the Sakamata Shad by . It is a popular soft jerkbait that has been catching fish all over Japan. Mr. Hakusui's prediction came true because its silhouette and movements resemble those of a lotus.

Everyone's motivation heated up as they caught a satisfactory size fish from the first one. Then, without much time to spare, Mr. Hayashida's rod also responded! He caught them one after another, also on the "Sakamata Shad.

Hayashida: I jerked twice and it stayed, then I jerked two more times and it goofed. This was my first time using the "Sakamata." I used to try all kinds of lures, but lately I've been using only what I'm used to. But I was curious about the "Sakamata. I have used other lures that have action by jerking and staying, so it was easy to handle.

Everyone's hearts are pounding even faster. Not wanting to let this time pass them by, they concentrated on casting. Ishii and Komatsu also use the "Sakamata Shad" while Hakusui recommends a cat rig.

Ishii: Two of us caught fish on "sakamata," so I have high expectations. Anyway, I wanted to catch one fish first, so I went steady with a proven lure.

Komatsu: It looks like I'm still going to catch fish. I want to catch one with my trusty cat rig.

Then Komatsu caught it. He succeeded in increasing the size from the previous day's ( lol ). Even the smallest of the small, one fish is still a fish. Then, Mr. Murayama and Mr. Saisu chose crankbaits recommended by Mr. Hakusui.

Saisu: I've been throwing cranks all day and they are chasing me to the surface and biting. I am hoping to catch a big one.

Murayama: Anyway, this time I wanted to fish with cranks, so I decided to just throw them around. It would be nice to reel it in while hitting the bottom with a thump and catch it.

As he kept reeling in the crankbait, a bass bit Murayama's crankbait! Unfortunately, however, he seems to have lost it.

Murayama: By the feel of the weight, it was probably 50, but I ran behind the boats in line and got caught out. The hook is bent, you know. It was too bad, because it was the biggest one I had caught in a long time. I'm so depressed.

I then tried to stay in this area for a while, but the first morning was over, or maybe I had put too much pressure on it, and it stopped responding. This is the dredging ( dredging ) area where the bottom sediment has been excavated for construction. Shrimps and small fishes are accumulated in the trees washed up on the undulations, and bass are said to be attached to them. It was said to be easy to fish by reeling in a reel, and Mr. Saisu kept reeling in the "Blitz Max DR" by O.S.P. when he got a bite!

Saisu: I caught one, but it was a size ( lol ). I felt like I might have had a bite.

Ikemoto, who was also reeling in the "Blitz Max DR," had this fish.

What a catfish!

Ikemoto: I tried to fish with the lure I got yesterday, and since I had caught it earlier with the "Sakamata", I next tried the "Blitz Max DR". The pull was strong, and I thought I had caught another 50-ish bass, but no way, it was a catfish. It was just a coincidence, but I was happy to catch it with a crank.

Then Mr. Hayashida caught it again with the "Sakamata Shad!

It is just before noon. The bites gradually decrease and the situation becomes severe. I move to a different point.
