When I thought about what was the most shocking news this year, it was the death of Shuntaro Tanikawa. I have been reading over several books of his poems at home, and they are all wonderful. It is truly amazing that he could put so much power into words. They have a core, yet are somehow aloof and light. I hope to be able to handle words like that someday.

When we talk about down, there is one thing that I always feel like we are not talking about. That is fill power. It is a quantification of the bulkiness of the down, and it judges the quality of the down in that it expands greatly and contains air. It does not indicate the warmth of the product itself. For example, if 100g of 600 fill power and 100g of 700 fill power, the latter is warmer, but if 30g of 700 fill power is used, the former is warmer. The advantage of a higher fill power, then, is that it means that the same amount of material will be warmer, which is why it can be said to be of higher quality. When it gets cold, I immediately rely on innerwear. I used to choose only cotton or merino wool, but recently I've been interested in Octa, which I've been seeing a lot. I thought it would be good to be able to use it for a long period of time, as it is both warm and breathable. When I decided to give them a try, I found one at a very affordable price.
