Disco 2000
I never thought it would be great to see Pulp live in Japan in the age of 2025. Thanks to you, we are off to a good start in the year 2025. However, the moment the intro of "Disco 2000" sounded, I was so excited to see how many Pulp fans there were in Japan. I was happy to see that there were so many Pulp fans in Japan, as I had felt that the band was underrated.

doublet
Doublet jacket

Our uniforms.
Even though times have changed, fashion and otaku are still far apart. I feel this strongly because I genuinely like both. However, this season's "Doublet" succeeded in combining the two with ease. One of the most outstanding pieces is the one you see here. At first glance, it appears to be a hunting jacket, but a closer look at the details reveals that it has been completely transformed into a dol otaku jacket. There are pockets that can hold Uchiwa fans just right and a special case for holding trekkas, but what I personally found most interesting was the "Kimbure" (a glowing stick that changes colors with a switch), which is one of the three sacred weapons for dol otaku. I was personally impressed by the fact that the three pockets for "Kimbure" (glow sticks that change color with a switch), the three sacred weapons for dollar-otaku, were incorporated without any sense of incongruity. And there are three of them. One or two pockets are not enough. I actually take three of them with me to the field. It looks good, but it is also functional. It seems to be the strongest uniform for us.

DOKKOI BEAT CLUB
Docko Beat Club Cap

Insist with your head.
T-shirts are often used as a tool to express one's tastes and principles, but for me, who rarely wears T-shirts even in the summer, caps do the job. Pictured is a BB cap with the face of my beloved Jerry Garcia embroidered on it. The company behind the cap is Dokkoi Beat Club, which is known for its sampling of subculture material. The deformed cartoon-like design is cute, and the psychedelic hair and sunglasses are a hit. Above all, the embroidery on the big, bold pattern makes a strong statement, which is great. I think it would look good if the visor was folded up and placed on top of the shaggy hair without being too formal. Naturally, I got both colors.

YOUTH OF THE WATER
Youth of the Water Jacket

Fascinating fabrics.
The texture is rugged and rough. This work jacket, which I picked up unintentionally because I was fascinated by this mysterious fabric that looks like the surface of a stone, is made by "Youth of the Water," an up-and-coming brand that debuted last season. The fabric is made of indigo yarn for the warp and bouclé yarn for the weft. The indigo color fades as the garment is worn, and the bouclé threads add fullness to the fabric, giving it a three-dimensional feel. I was intrigued by this fabric at first sight. On the other hand, the stitching and tailoring are very carefully done, and it has a smartness that is not all about ruggedness. When I heard that the designer used to be a patterner at "JUNYA WATANABE MANN," I was convinced in many ways. In addition to this jacket, there was an abundant lineup of high quality daily wear derived from vintage clothing, which was completely to my liking. It seems I have found another favorite brand. I will continue to check out Youth of the Water in the future.

Nepenthes Craft Beer

Drink and compare your favorite brands.
My first encounter with craft beer was just 10 years ago when I visited Portland, Oregon in the United States. There were many creative independent breweries in this city, and I enjoyed a variety of craft beers while walking around drinking. Since I had only known the taste of lager from major breweries, I was shocked to learn that there were so many different flavors of beer, and I was hooked. My latest recommendation is Nepenthes craft beer. They have three types: "Needles," "Engineered
Garments, South 2
West 8, and Flower, Sun, and Rain. Each of these beers has a unique flavor that reflects the brand's worldview. It is fun to compare these four kinds of beers and experience the deep world of craft beer. Personally, just the fact that my favorite brand has released a beer is enough for me. I drink it every day!

I had always been greedy and participated in only long races, but short races are not so bad. I finished the race quickly as if it was a morning activity, watched a rugby game in the afternoon, and even took a sauna. It was a fulfilling day.

SAMBOB

Warm and cool.
A middle layer is a necessary item for enjoying the cold winter mountains. Moreover, trail running, which requires a lot of sweating, requires excellent ventilation when moving and high warmth retention when stagnant. This is why Polartec

In addition to the loft fiber that releases heat while trapping body heat, the porous fabric has excellent quick-drying properties. And yet, it weighs a surprisingly light 130 grams!
This is a perfect product for running around the winter mountains in comfort and lightness. The fact that it is handmade by a designer also tickles your appetite.

Innovative new materials.
Soft and warm like a feather, yet water-repellent. PrimaLoft continues to develop cutting-edge synthetic fiber insulation that is as soft and warm as feathers, yet water repellent. PrimaLoft® Evolve, an innovative new material made of synthetic fibers directly woven into the fabric to resemble animal fur, has been released as a launch item for PrimaLoft® Evolve. The "Evolute Hoody" from LOVE was released as a launch item for this new material. The outer fabric is a lightweight, moisture-wicking Motiv™ Aero single jersey.
Aero single jersey is used for the outer layer, and Primaloft® Evolve is used for the lining. This combination overcomes the durability that can be said to be a demerit of active insulation and provides a mechanism that quickly disperses moisture even when sweating. It maintains a comfortable temperature inside at all times while responding to the amount of exercise. This is a remarkable product that combines the innovation of PrimaLoft with the ideas of "Love. Eliminate that hassle.
I often wear a neck warmer these days, but what is useful to have is a balaclava-type hoodie. It is simply warm and can be used as a mask in some situations. When your entire face is completely covered except for your eyes, you can feel somewhat secure. However, when the hood is pulled down, the area around the neck is bothersome. The "WUNDERWEAR" by Bling solves this frustration in a snap.

In addition, thumbholes on the cuffs protect the palms and back of the hands while subtly warming them. Incidentally, the material used is a blend of 70% wool and 30% recycled polyester. It is a nice point that it is easy to care for while maintaining the skin-friendliness and odor resistance of wool.

MUJI
MUJI Long T

Now you are ready for winter.
Last October, we introduced MUJI's long T-shirt in this column.I originally bought it for a business trip, but before I knew it, it had become a staple in my wardrobe and a mainstay in my fall outfits. I couldn't live without it, so I bought more and wore it all the time. But I couldn't beat the winter cold, so I had to part with it for a while. That's when I turned my attention to this high-neck T-shirt. The slightly thick fabric has a brushed surface, so it is airy, warm, and smooth to the touch. It can be used as an inner layer for sweaters and sweatshirts, of course, but it also looks great worn alone because of its boxy silhouette. Moreover, the height of the neck is just right!
It is neither too high nor too low, so there is no stress when wearing it. You won't feel uncomfortable even if you wrap a scarf around the top. And the price is as you would expect from MUJI!
Checking the online store, there are only a few in stock, so if you are interested, please get in as soon as possible.

BLK × MOISTHROUGH360
B.L.K. x Moisture 360 sneakers

New 360-degree waterproofing system.
Now that casual style has become popular both on and off the street, sneakers are on many people's feet. A newcomer in partnership with B.L.K. is surprising us with a new patented 360-degree waterproof system. The brand's name is "Moisture Roof 360. The key point is the use of a special material with a breathable waterproof function, rather than a waterproof film that tends to accumulate moisture inside the shoe. The air and moisture are released not only from the uppers but also from the soles of the shoes, so they are said to perform regardless of whether it is raining or sunny. The solid design unique to "B.L.K." blends well with such shoes. This work is already on sale. If you try them on at the White Mountaineering store, you will surely see the difference between these shoes and others.

That tired guy should be pleased.
The chair I use at work is the "Aeron chair" by Herman Miller. It is the same chair for all employees, not just me. I know this because I sit in it every day, but I have never had any problems with my body because of the chair, and I feel that it is definitely less tiring than other chairs. I feel that it is much easier to get tired than other chairs. So I guess you could say that the Aeron chair supports me every day. I went to the presentation of the new Herman Miller chair for the first time. Among the various products on display, including chairs, what caught my eye was the coat rack "Eames
Hang It All," a coat rack. It is famous as one of the masterpieces of the Eameses, but this is a new color based on the archives. The color is so beautiful, I could imagine it in my home. I thought that even a tired coat that has been with me all day would be happy if I hung it on this (laughs). I think just a little change will make our daily life better.

In the past month or so, I have heard from several friends that they have upset their wives because of some "◯◯◯◯" incident, and since I just watched "Asura no Gotoku" on Netflix, I realized that it is very difficult to be a married couple. RWCHE
Roach corduroy pants

For clubs and live music venues.
I wear slacks more than 300 days out of 365. I am not particular about the material I wear, except for changing the material between spring/summer and fall/winter, and I wear them every day, choosing at random from my closet. However, there is one thing that bothers me, and that is the smell problem I get when I go to clubs or live music venues that do not have smoking areas. If I had to take them to the cleaners every time they smelled of cigarettes or alcohol, it would cost me a lot of money and time. The corduroy fabric is great for cold weather, and the slightly thicker silhouette makes it easy to move around at clubs and live shows. The side pockets can easily hold a 600 ml plastic bottle, so they are useful for holding mineral water to prevent drunkenness. The color is my favorite blue, and there are ties on the inside of the hem, so you don't have to worry about dragging the hem with any shoes. It is also available in black and green, so it would be nice to have a colorful assortment.

TOKYO HARVEST ROOM
Toukyou Harvest Room Tenugui & Air Freshener

The icon + red color is a landmark.
As much as possible, I prefer to wear things that belong to people I know or have a relationship with. This is especially true for things like T-shirts and tenugui hand towels, for which I personally do not demand functionality in the slightest. The tenugui, which has a fixed position in my right back pocket, is something I use every day, and I lose a few every year without remembering it, so it doesn't matter how many I have. Mr. Toriyama, who has been a great help to me for a long time, is the owner of "Tokyo

Room, which sells Aomori apple pie and apple juice at events. The tenugui (hand towel), made in collaboration with "Moon Eyes," which continues to transmit authentic American motor culture + α from Honmoku, features a red apple and an eyeball, the icons of the two companies. The air freshener, also a collaboration between the two companies, is used in my work room at home since I don't have a car. I would like to get another spare tenugui because I don't want to lose this one (as well as the others) and they appear infrequently. By the way, Mr. Toriyama, is it about time for that project?

Northern Watters Knitwear
Balaclava by Northern Watters Knitwear

Savior of the monk.
One of the disadvantages of shaved heads is that it is just so cold. In the middle of winter, a hat is a must, but when it is freshly clipped, the hair gets caught and the knit cap does not fit, and there is no doubt that shaved heads are the cause of at least one cold every winter. The clipper setting may vary depending on how many millimeters you set, but basically, you cannot put a knit cap on until about three days after you have just cut your hair, and until then, you may feel cold or even painful if you wear only a cap or hunting cap. I was vaguely thinking about what to do about this problem of having a shaved head, when this balaclava appeared like a savior. Balaclavas come in a variety of materials and shapes, but the Northern Watters Knitwear balaclava is quite fluffy and voluminous, so even though it is knit, it doesn't stick to your head and can be worn like a parka hood on the train or indoors. If you tighten the strings, it stays pretty close to your head, and you don't have to worry about the midwinter cold in Tokyo, regardless of whether you have a shaved head or not. Thanks to this (?) I haven't caught a cold yet this winter so far.

I am over 40 years old, and the image of adulthood I had when I was a teenager and the person I am today are far apart. I was on a business trip to Thailand just a few days ago. mont-bell
Montbell's Down Anorak

This winter's best buy.
If I had to pick a best buy for this winter, it would definitely be this one. It's called the "US EX Light Down Anorak," an overseas model from Montbell.
I love the design, functionality, comfort, and color. I love the anorak design, which is one of the reasons I chose this item, but its functionality is also outstanding. The 7 denier stretchy and breathable nylon fabric is thin enough to see through, yet strong enough to be worn through to the other side, and is filled with a good amount of 900 fill power EX down. With an average weight of 215g, it is light, moderately warm, and compact enough to be packed in a stuff bag. In unbearably cold weather, I sometimes wear a wind shell over the top to block wind from the seams, but in Tokyo it is almost unnecessary. I checked the web shop as I write this, and this color was already sold out. It is a bit expensive compared to other items, but I guess it was popular among the core group. Incidentally, the drawback of overseas models is that there are almost no places to buy them except on the Internet, but it was great that a respected senior of mine happened to have bought the exact same one before me and was able to check the size and feel. The shape and color match, love it.

If you have
If You Have Pants

Must-have.
In the past month, I have been in various places with different temperatures, from Tokyo to Hokkaido, Mie to Aichi, Tokyo to Thailand to Tokyo. This made me curious about items that were lightweight, relatively compact, warm, but airy. That's when I tried my hand at "Octapants" by IFYOUHAB. I had always thought of IFYOUHAB as a pack, but recently they have been producing more and more clothing. As the name suggests, these pants are made of Teijin's Octa material, which can be worn as innerwear, and the fit is so good that you can even wear them alone. Many Octa pants have a strong tights feel, so I thought this was a good balance. And even though Octa is well-known for its warmth and breathability, the double raschel knitting is said to be strong. It feels a little bulky, but I was able to fit a week's worth of stuff, including my computer, into a 30L backpack, so I guess that's acceptable. They were always just right and comfortable, whether I was living in Tokyo, skiing on the slopes in Tomamu where it was below freezing, waiting motionless for a photo shoot, having the flu in a hotel where my body temperature was over 40 degrees, in Thailand where it was over 30 degrees and chilly in shorts, or on a plane trip. I end up wearing them every day, and they are extremely useful. Oh yeah, the two non-stretch mesh pockets on the back are very convenient and don't get loose.

HALISON
Harrison's Socks.

Jackpot.
I prefer socks that are slightly thicker than thin. As for the material of choice, I like cotton, but I also tend to choose merino wool in the current season because I worry about cold feet. For design, I prefer ribbed. I've been experimenting with different styles, and I think I've found the right one for me. That is Harrison's Merino.
Support Pile
I had been putting off buying these socks because they have been around since 1925 and are as famous as socks themselves, but they are really good. These socks are made from Australian merino wool, using combed yarn, and finished with a special knitting technique. They are smooth to the touch, but also fluffy due to their thickness. The balance of the slightly sweet knitting is exquisite, and even in Thailand, where the temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius, you will not feel stuffy or cold, even in this season. I think long-established companies make good products. I don't know how strong they are yet, but I have a feeling that I will keep coming back to them until I get tired of them and they run out.
