I see that these shoes are also available at Sofutsu. How did you get started?
About 10 years ago, I saw a monk wearing them at my grandmother's memorial service. I thought they were novel and cool shoes, so I got curious and went home and searched for "monk I went home and searched for "monk leather shoes," and this one came up. Until then, I had an image of "HARUTA" as leather shoes for students, but I thought they looked interesting and wanted to carry them in my store, so I contacted the brand. I contacted the brand and was told, "We have been selling these shoes for over 50 years, but this is the first time someone from the apparel industry has approached us" (laughs). (Laughs.) Since then, I have kept them in the store.
What kind of people purchase your products?
We have many regular customers, but many of them know more than a certain amount about clothes. I have the impression that many of them are genuine people.

Do you usually wear casual clothes when you go to the office?
Yes, it is. It's like office casual. The top is a knit, the pants are slacks, and the shoes are beautiful leather shoes. So I think shoes like today's would go well with that.
What is the point of today's coordination?
I have always liked the style of a coat with 7-part pants. It reminds me of an old lady at an art museum.
Where do you get your styling inspiration?
I often look at the personal clothing of my favorite artists and designers. I'm interested in fashion that reflects who they are as a person. I also look at the Instagrams of stores. I had seen these "HARUTA" spocks at "Sofutsu" in Kichijoji before, and I had always wanted to buy them. It's nice to be able to enjoy matching them with socks, isn't it?

Yes, it is. They seem to fit the casual look of "Beauty & Youth. HARUTA" has a strong image of loafers, and I have an image of them being worn by students. But they can be incorporated into fashion, and the fact that they are affordable but not cheap is also appealing.
What is the point of today's coordination?
The shoes are beautiful, so I matched the top with a high-quality leather top. However, I didn't want to make a classic outfit just because I was wearing leather shoes, so I balanced it out by wearing cotton pants like the ones I wore today.
