STAKKO Desk Set ¥427,350 *Chair sold separately
What is interesting about collaboration between different industries is that it produces things that one would not have thought of on the other hand.
This is what I thought when I saw STAKKO, a modular system developed in collaboration between Karimoku Furniture and Postalco Design Studio. After an exhibition at the Karimoku Research Center, STAKKO will finally make its debut.
STAKKO Block Shelf Set ¥99,770-612,370 (1x1-3x3)
Stucco, named from the Japanese word "stacking," is simply a box-shaped block made of Japanese chestnut wood. The idea is to make them function as furniture by stacking them vertically or horizontally, or by connecting them in a stack, depending on the living environment or purpose of use at the time.
Connecting the items together is easy and simple, requiring only two hand-turned bolts to secure them in place. And yet, it can be used as a shelf, chair, table, sofa, storage or display stand, and the cable holes in the back allow for the installation of electronic devices or even lights to fit neatly into place.
The initial collection will include four different sets and various covers, available in natural and dark brown. Since the furniture is made by a collection of individual pieces, it is easy to move in and out. If there is a trend of buying a piece for your child's desk and then taking it with you as a display stand when he or she is on his or her own, you might cry uncontrollably. I think this is the kind of furniture that creates such a story.
It will go on sale at Postalco stores from October 3 (Fri.).
