From the vast archives, a retro-designed wristwatch launched in 1984 has returned after 37 years.

1984 was the year that Madonna released "Like a Virgin," Apple released the first Macintosh, and the Maharaja, which later became a symbol of the bubble economy in Japan, opened in Azabu-juban. It was a time of such momentum.
Swatch was founded exactly one year earlier, in 1983, and had released its iconic wristwatch "1983" the previous year, which is now stored at MoMA, and was just getting started.

The "1984" collection was launched in response. The watches are fun to wear and have a simple design that is also catchy, and are very close to the roots of today's Swatch watches.
This reissue was named "1984 Reloaded," and "GENT" and "NEW GENT" were reissued.

The difference from the original is the use of a material called "BIOCERAMIC," a mix of bio-derived plastic made from castor oil and ceramic.
This material is eco-friendly, yet soft, sturdy, lightweight, and of excellent quality. In other words, the material as well as the appearance of the product are in line with the current times.

Incidentally, the yellow "NEW GENT" is said to be the model worn by Max in season 3 of "Stranger Things," so it might be interesting to check it out again.
