In the 1990s, the term "vintage" was used to describe vintage clothing that did not meet the definition of "antique," but still had value, as opposed to "antique" clothing that was 100 years old. Nowadays, there is a movement to find new value in "new vintage," even in old clothes from the 1980s onward, which used to be called "regular" vintage clothes. In this project, four vintage clothing stores with different styles propose new ways to enjoy vintage clothing. Each of them will talk about the charm of vintage clothing with their own sense of style.
All new stores have been replaced, and the Series enters its 12th season! The 93rd issue is the second round of Koike-san & Makishi-san of "Kiraku" in Daitabashi, Tokyo! What new vintages will they introduce this time?

Vol.93_Balco Medical Pants
What are some of the new vintage items you will be introducing this time?
Last time, we introduced a cook's coat from "Chef Works" as workwear with a bit of a twist, and we'd like to go with the uniform theme again this time. These are work pants, and the brand is "BARCO.
This is the first time I've heard of this name, but the fabric seems soft for work pants.
BARCO" is a historical brand that has been producing uniforms for medical professionals in the U.S. for more than 90 years since 1929, and its items are called "medical pants" or "scrub pants. The point to be checked is this tag!
It says "GREY'S ANATOMY BAY BARCO" on the website ......, which sounds vaguely familiar?
Grey's Anatomy" is an American long-running medical drama series that has been running since 2005, and became a hot topic of conversation when it was announced that season 21 would be broadcast this year. . This item is from the collaboration line with that drama. The brand's official website lists the current model as well, but it appears that the type introduced here is discontinued.
When it comes to work pants, painter pants and chef pants are well-known, but are medical pants so numerous and varied that they can be considered a genre in the vintage clothing market?
Actually, we didn't pay much attention to them, but now that I think back on it, there are a lot of them. We see people wearing them all the time. I think we notice the silhouettes a lot. The latest ones are quite slim, but old-fashioned ones are thicker in the waistband and snug around the hips.
I see. This is a common feature of the models you have prepared for us this time.
The rest usually have an elastic or drawcord waist, and the silhouette is straight with a stoop. The materials used are usually nylon or polyester. The reason for this seems to be that they dry quickly after washing and are easy to care for without the need for ironing.
. . well.... So is this also the case here?
. These are a polyester/rayon blend. I have sold Carhartt's medical pants several times before, but they were thin but made of ripstop fabric. . Perhaps they used a softer material for quietness. They are relaxing and comfortable, so they would be good to wear this time of year.
The pockets are also eye-catching.
The baker-pants-like front patch pockets are nice, but this large pocket placed on the side is also a highlight. It is unclear what kind of use it is intended for, but it is a useful one if there is one.
Speaking of wondering what it is used for, this mysterious D-sugar is also a good example.
Hey, I'm curious (laughs). In case you are wondering, it has the name Mal D Suga, so I guess it is ...... versatile, but what is it (laughs)? What I can tell, however, is that it is made of plastic material, not metal, which is a consideration for medical professionals.
Originally, you would wear it with a scrub top, right?
Perhaps the top is also available and was worn as a set-up. The waist of the large size seems to be about 36 to 38 inches, so it drapes nicely if you squeeze it tight. I think it would look great with any outfit, just like the Dickies 574.
. Many people may not have seen the medical pants genre before, or if they have, they may not have heard of the drama, so it may be a good idea to start with the drama and see what you discover.
It is available on Disney Plus and Amazon Prime! As the Japanese title "Anatomy of Love" suggests, the story is about a group of young surgeons working at a large hospital in Seattle, and their work and love life, as well as their struggles and growth, from the time they start as interns. We have never seen the drama, so we can't say for sure, but there may be some hints on how to dress in medical pants. For example, you can wear them with a doctor's coat (white coat) (laughs).
