Another new eyewear brand from overseas is coming to Japan. This time it is from Hampstead, London. The brand is called "Ransome Optical.
This brand is a little different. Jack Ransom Lupton, an optometrist by trade, began making frames by himself in 2020.
This optometrist is what we call in Japanese an optometrist. In the U.K., it is a national qualification, and it includes eye health care from vision measurement.
Mr. Jack Ransom Lupton.
That is why Ransom Optical believes that the essence of eyewear is to protect the health of the eyes. To this we add modern and timeless British design and a commitment to making everything by hand. These three things are what make Ransom Optical what it is.
The store, which opened last September, has been well received as a "new experience" and has been called an innovator in the British eyewear industry.
As one would expect, it is difficult to get the same support as the local market, but if you have a request, they can make custom-made products with fine adjustments according to the width and depth of your face and the shape of your nose, after a two to three month wait.
The eyewear, a rare combination of medical knowledge and craftsmanship, will be available in Japan at Blink Gaienmae and Blink Base from Friday, March 14.
