How comfortable is the new recovery footwear from Rigg? The members of Huinamu Running Club♡ tried them on after a treerun.

On April 5 and 6, 2025, the TRAIL OPEN AIR DEMO (TOAD), a hands-on exhibition event where visitors could try out the latest trail-running gear, was held at TCN Sports Park Nagayama in Ome, Tokyo.

This was the 11th time the event was held. A record number of over 80 brands gathered at the venue to display and sell the latest trail run gear, and various events such as relays and shuttle runs were held, creating a great deal of excitement.

Recovery footwear brand from Japanrig FOOTWEARFollowing on from last year's event, "Wadu" also exhibited at "TOAD". A wide variety of items, including this season's new "Wadu" and "Waduki," were prepared at the venue, providing a rare opportunity to actually try them on.

Recovery Footwear is a staple of before and after footwear for running, trail running, and other activities. Rig Footwear's items, in particular, feature a footbed based on the characteristics of the Japanese foot, making them very comfortable for the foot. The excellent shock-absorbing midsole promotes efficient recovery from fatigue.

Our ♡Huinamu Running Club also participated in this year's TOAD and organized a group run with about 20 participants, running about 7 km on the trails around the venue.

When you hit the trails, your feet take a fair amount of damage. You want to relax and give them a good workout. This is where recovery footwear comes in.

What kind of feeling and effect can be obtained by wearing recovery footwear after a trail run? And how comfortable are the new "Rig Footwear" products? We asked the members of Huynem Running Club ♡, who just finished a group run, to try them out and give us their impressions.

Slide type, yet fits well and is easy to walk in.

I tried on the new "Wadu" slide-type shoes. I like that they have no heel, so I can take them on and off smoothly, and also that I can tighten the straps at the instep for a better fit. Not only can you relax and wear them after a run or trail run, but they are easy to walk in and will come in handy for short outings.

The sole cushion is neither too soft nor too hard, and the footbed feels comfortable. This is true not only of the "Wadu," which I tried this time, but also of other Rigg Footwear products. Once you wear them, you will become addicted to them.

As a side note, all the staff at TOTOKEN, where I am the manager, including myself, wear Rig Footwear's slide-type sandals. They are easy to put on and take off when going to and from the bathrooms, and they are popular among the staff because they are less tiring to wear for long periods of time," says Taijiro Oda.

The balance between openness and hold is just right.

I tried the new "Waduki" this time. The Gurkha sandal-like straps look fresh, and when the cords are tightened, they fit comfortably around the entire foot. Moreover, the heel prevents the foot from slipping out of place, and I felt that it was a pair with a high degree of perfection, with an excellent balance between openness and a sense of hold.

I wore them over socks today, but they would feel great barefoot in hot weather. I'm sure they will be in my army this summer.

Incidentally, I am a regular user of Rig Footwear's recovery footwear, both on and off the bike. They gently care for my feet after running and are very comfortable. If you haven't experienced the comfort of these shoes, please give them a try.

In addition to the new ones we tried on, Rig Footwear offers a wide variety of recovery footwear. Find the perfect pair for you according to your taste and purpose.
