This is "monessay," a Series by Toshiyuki Sai, Publisher of HOUYHNHNM and Editor-in-Chief of HOUYHNHNM Unplugged. Monessay" is an essay through objects, so there is no twist, but it is not a commentary either. This time, a shirt from H Beauty & Youth.

The 56thConservative.

. It has been more than 30 years since I started writing these columns in various media. The longest column was in the magazine "Biggin" published by Sekai Bunka Sha. Series titles were changed several times, and there was a short hiatus, but I continued for nearly 30 years. I was in my late twenties when I started the Series, so I have come a long way, when I think about it.

. There are probably not a few customers or readers who have been with us since then. I can only express my gratitude to them for their long time patience with my ramblings. Thank you very much.

Long-time readers will no doubt be familiar with my personal tastes. . I don't mean my preference for woolen pants, or any such deviant sexual preference, but rather my position on fashion. Liberal in thought , conservative in style. . so basically what I wear has remained pretty much the same for the past 30 years since I was in my 20s.

. to name a few items: jeans, BD shirts, military pants, and New Balance.

Acquaintances and others who have not seen him for a long time always remark that he has not changed at all.

Whether it is good or bad, it is certainly the same look and the same hair style in the pictures of his younger days.

However, the Levi's 501s I wore in the 1980s and the 501s I wear these days are a little different in size. One might suspect that it is a change in body shape, but somehow my weight has not changed from when I was in my 20s. . So, whether I choose the right size or a larger size as the mood of the times, I am somewhat influenced by the trends of the time.

In the past few seasons, larger sizes have become a household word among the fashion population. In other words, it has become a fad.

It started to penetrate the trendy early adopter crowd maybe 2 years ago, but as a conservative person, I'm not moving fast enough. Like a snail crawling after the rain, I finally began to choose pants and shirts that were a little larger than I had been wearing since last summer. In particular, I have given up wearing the tight-fitting "J.Crew" T-shirts I used to wear, and have been wearing the round-body T-shirts made by designer Masahiko Sakata, which are sold at Biotope, in heavy rotation.

What I'm trying to say is that people say they have been wearing the same things for 30 years, but they change their fits with the times.

. Sometimes I go out to the Roppongi area for meetings. I sometimes go to Roppongi for meetings, etc. The people I see in intelligent buildings and commercial facilities, whether they are fake IT types or clerks at cell phone shops, still wear tight-fitting suits with pants that are too tight and sharp shoes on their bare feet. I know they don't want me to tell them this, but they are completely out of shape. Muscle training is very popular these days, and there are a lot of people, especially muscular older men, who wear this kind of suits. By the way, my former personal trainer was like this. . I think they look like they have a bare sexual appetite. If you know of anyone who looks like this, you should be careful.

. and I have a shirt that I like from this spring.

This is a balloon shirt model, a classic original from H Beauty & Youth at United Arrows, in a larger size reminiscent of Comme des Garcons and Yohji Yamamoto in the 1990s. I first got the striped one, and since it was doing so well, I bought the white and blue ones as well.

Normally, I wear a medium size, but since the model is oversized, I chose a medium size because it would make me look too young if I wore it as it is.

When I inquired about a different pattern of this model for fall, they said they had changed to the model I was able to borrow this time. . When I looked at it, I noticed that the length was much longer.

So, you say that what you wear is conservative. I can't wear this, not this year.

." After writing this much, the editor-in-chief informed me, "Actually, what Mr. Tsai is wearing will remain as a standard item, and it is this new model that was introduced at the press preview held on the Web, which stands as the new model.

I was a little relieved.

H-Beauty & Youth's new shirt has a different design from the standard balloon shirt. The fabric is the same as the balloon shirt, 120/2 broadcloth from Thomas Mason. The design is an English-style widespread collar shirt with an extended length.
