Mr. Nakano is a professional in physical maintenance, but do you ever feel tired?
Nakano: It would be a lie to say that I don't get tired, but I may not get tired easily. I am quite energetic. I sleep about 3 or 4 hours a night and I am totally fine. I am 46 years old this year, and even now I sometimes stay up until about 3:00 am and wake up at 7:00 am. Even so, I can work from morning till night.
What is the secret of your energy?
Nakano: I guess you get used to it (laughs). By the way, I don't miss drinking every day.
Do you think there is a kind of fatigue that is unique to modern people?
Nakano: I think there is a fatigue that is more peculiar to the city than to modern people. In particular, I think Tokyo is uniquely unhealthy, and trains are the worst. It's always crowded, and you have to pay attention to people, so there is unintended muscle tension that lasts for minutes. Even if you get off the train and leave the station, you're bound to bump into someone again, right? It's like an RPG game, your HP, which was 100 in the morning, is cut down by the crowded train to the destination, then cut down by walking, and moreover, when you go to the office, your boss gets mad at you, and you have less than half of what you had in the morning.
It's easy to understand if you think in terms of HP.
Nakano: Since HP continues to decrease just by living, I think they will need us to help them recover and maintain their HP, and they will need recovery wear from "sixpad".
What did you think of the recovery wear from "sixpad" in the eyes of the pros?
Nakano: The more you wear it, the better...on the first day you have a placebo of "I'm wearing recovery wear!" By the second day, you don't know what's going on. Then, on the third day, you start thinking, "This is definitely good. Acupuncture, moxibustion, and osteopathy are also good, but "sixpad" recovery wear promotes blood circulation.
What effect does this have on the body?
Nakano: In general, when blood circulation is stimulated, muscle stiffness and tension are alleviated. That leads to recovery from fatigue, so I think it is best to keep wearing it. If I wore this while working, I would be able to keep my HP down as much as possible.
I see.
Nakano: Also, I'm in a good mood. It may sound fluffy, but I don't think that feeling is foolproof. It's not something that can be measured by numbers, nor are numbers everything. You have to feel it yourself, but clearly, I feel good somehow.
I think "somehow" is important.
Nakano: Sometimes I feel kind of bad, and sometimes I feel kind of good. The world is full of such things.
Nakano-san has a passion for clothes. What do you think of this film from a fashion point of view?
Nakano: Generally, this kind of clothing is a bit tight and the arms are snug. Like a gym teacher. But this one has a good length and width, and it's really good. The fabric is comfortable, too. We also have pants, so I'd like to try them as a set-up in the future.
Lastly, do you have any unique ways to refresh yourself, either physically or mentally?
Nakano: I guess it's traveling abroad. I think it is the most refreshing way to get away from certain problems, distance and time. Then there is cooking. Pasta is the only thing I've been cooking longer than this job.
