The second day arrived with unfavorable weather. We arrived at the "Lake Marina" where we rented a boat. It was drizzling rain, but there was no need to worry as it seemed to stop soon. Every time we come to Lake Biwa, we always see a fantastic morning glow, but unfortunately we couldn't see it this time. It was time to leave the boat! We headed for the meeting point with our guide. Riding through the lake on a bass boat is a great feeling, isn't it? The sensation of gliding along on the water is different from that of a car or a motorcycle, and no matter how many times you experience it, it is still exceptional.
This time, Kazumasa Shirouzu will guide us as he did last time. He will be visiting points with terrain changes where bass are waiting for bait, targeting aggressive bass before spawning and bass trying to recover their strength after spawning.
First of all, the first place. We came to a hard bottom point. Our recommendation is to free-rig a hogging worm. Without hesitation, we all used it. If this many anglers were fishing the same way, someone was sure to catch a fish. The first morning was the best time to catch fish. A bite could happen at any time. Everyone looked tense as they carefully searched the bottom.
Mr. Ichikawa, who was using Depth's "Bull Slender," got a bite right away.
Ichikawa: The bite was shallow. If it was a motivated fish, it would eat everything in one gulp. I tried several times to catch the fish, but it just dropped out. The tension of the bass seemed to be low.
But the bass are reacting properly. Keep concentrating and don't get discouraged.
Within a few minutes after that bite, Ishii got the next bite. He was using a 4-inch "Drive Craw," a hog-type worm from O.S.P. that he had purchased the day before in preparation for Lake Biwa. However, like Mr. Ichikawa, he soon lost it.
Ishii: The worm got caught in the weed and reacted with a giggle as soon as it came off. But I think I was too quick to match it. I think it was probably when the crawfish was crunching on the scissors of the worm.
Neither of them bit through, but they seemed to have a chance. And not long after, Ishii again!

Ishii: I took advantage of my earlier reflection and waited for the bite instead of immediately matching it. I could feel the bite from the line and could clearly feel the moment it bit! I thought, "I've got a 50-plus fish!
When I measured it, it was 48 cm, just short of my goal. But I am satisfied with this fish.
Expectations were exploding for such an intense development. Everyone was ready for the next round, and everyone was thinking, "I'll be next! I am sure everyone was thinking, "I am next! The tension was unbearable.
