Why did I do it?
--How did you frankly feel when you were offered the lead role?
I wondered if it was okay, and it was. I was really surprised. I was surprised and wondered why I did it.
--Did you ask the director directly why?
When we met face to face, I asked, "Why me?" I asked the director what he saw when he saw me. I asked the director how he knew me, and he told me that he had seen a TV show called "The Goat and Daigo," in which I walked around with a goat. He said, "I thought he was a person who didn't change his way of speaking from children to elderly people, and I liked that. He is not so different in variety shows, but it seems that he watched the show in which I appeared in my most natural way.
-What was the communication like in terms of acting?
I don't think they disliked me or anything, but they really didn't (laughs). After the filming was over, I said, "Thank you for your hard work," and he just smiled and said, "Thank you," and I didn't even wonder if he was really okay (laughs). (Laughs) But when I asked him after the scene was over, he said, "I was holding back. I was afraid that if I told him, he would think I was being weird about it. I guess he knew what I was talking about. If I praised him in a strange way, he would suddenly start making up roles (laughs). (Laughs.) I think he thought, "Don't make up a role, don't make up a role.
