Vol. 42: The Best Sneakers of the First Half of 2026.

With a vast number of new sneaker models released every day, there are so many attractive options that it’s hard to know which one to choose… This monthly series is here to serve as your guide when selecting sneakers. This installment’s theme is “The Best Sneakers of the First Half of 2026.” Three experts who work on the front lines of the sneaker scene every day have each carefully selected three pairs that symbolize the first half of this year. We’ll look back on the sneaker scene of the first half of 2026, sharing their reasons for choosing these pairs, their real-world comfort, and memorable stories along the way.

The fun of sneakers will continue in the second half of the year.

Fuinam: Are there any trends you’re keeping an eye on for the second half of 2026?

Fukuda: I’m still interested in soccer. That goes for uniforms, too, and I think soccer-inspired sneakers and styles will continue to gain popularity.

Okajima: Rather than seeing any major, sudden changes, I think there’s also a trend where models that weren’t available in the first half of the year get restocked in the second half, or where larger quantities come in.

Kojima: I think the trend of incorporating performance shoes into everyday life will continue. It’s not just for running—they make getting around easier, are lightweight, and are comfortable to wear. People are naturally choosing these features even within the realm of fashion.

Fuinam: Please tell us about Atmos’s future plans as well.

Kojima: First and foremost, the opening of our Sendai store in May was a major event. It was even more successful than we had imagined, and it made me realize once again how important brick-and-mortar stores are.

Fuinam: This is your first store in the Tohoku region, right?

Kojima: We had customers come from all over the Tohoku region—including Fukushima, Yamagata, and Iwate. There was a level of enthusiasm that we simply couldn’t capture online, and I really felt the potential of the Tohoku area. There are things you can’t see or experience unless you go there in person. As a sneaker shop, that’s something we want to continue to cherish.

Fukuda: We’re also planning some soccer-related campaigns for the second half of the year. We hope you’ll continue to keep an eye out for soccer-inspired items and events.

Okajima: We have a lot of special orders and collaborations coming up. As we gear up for the fall/winter season, there will be more and more exciting new items in our regular lineup.

Fuinam: “Will there be big events like ‘atmoscon’ as well?”

Kojima: Yes. It’s scheduled to take place in the fall. I can’t reveal any details yet, but please look forward to it. Fuinam: It looks like there will still be plenty of activity in the second half of 2026 as well.

Kojima: Custom orders, regular collections, events, and stores. I hope to share the joy of sneakers from a variety of perspectives.

Okajima: We plan to expand our activities in various areas—not just sneakers, but also sandals, apparel, and event exhibitions.

Fukuda: I really hope you’ll stop by the store. I think you’ll discover things there that you wouldn’t see online.
