Vol. 42: The Best Sneakers of the First Half of 2026.

With a vast number of new sneaker models released every day, there are so many attractive options that it’s hard to know which one to choose… This monthly series is here to serve as your guide when selecting sneakers. This installment’s theme is “The Best Sneakers of the First Half of 2026.” Three experts who work on the front lines of the sneaker scene every day have each carefully selected three pairs that symbolize the first half of this year. We’ll look back on the sneaker scene of the first half of 2026, sharing their reasons for choosing these pairs, their real-world comfort, and memorable stories along the way.

Director Takafumi Kojima’s “Top 3 Picks for the First Half of 2026.”

1) adidas ADIZERO ADIOS PRO 4 SATISFY
I'm obsessed with it and use it all the time.

Adidas “ADIZERO ADIOS PRO 4 SATISFY” (my personal pair)

Kojima: I’ve been wearing the “Adizero EVO SL” a lot since last year, and performance running shoes have become a part of my lifestyle. Following that trend, I picked up this collaboration model between and . When I actually tried them on, I was a little blown away. First of all, they’re lightweight. The responsiveness is also excellent. And they fit my feet perfectly. I just got them recently, but I’ve been wearing them almost every day. I wore them on a business trip abroad and even went for a short run. They work for both everyday wear and running. They also hold their own as a fashion statement. It feels like they have it all. I love the gradient and reflective accents—so typical of —and I personally really like the asymmetrical design. The heel features the message “Stay Possessed,” which apparently conveys the idea of running nonstop as if possessed by something—and that’s exactly where I am right now (laughs).

2) adidas Originals SuperStar KNOWWHERE STUDIO
A unique, boot-inspired look.

Adidas Originals “SuperStar KNOWWHERE STUDIO” (My personal pair)

Kojima: 〈KNOWWHERE STUDIO〉 is a brand and studio based in Bangkok, Thailand. I met its director, Yotin Punsumron, there a few years ago, and his unique personality left a strong impression on me. At the time, the brand wasn’t as well-known as it is now, but it has steadily grown in prominence and has finally even launched an official collaboration with 〈Adidas Originals〉. It really brings back memories. Based on the “Superstar,” this is a boot-like reinterpretation that hasn’t been released in Japan yet. Since I generally don’t wear leather shoes, this sneaker-boot balance is just right for me. It retains the essence of the “Superstar” while making a distinct change with the sole, and the black and silver color scheme is right up my alley.

3) NIKE AIR MAX 95 OG LORENZ
Taking sneakers into the realm of art.

Nike “AIR MAX 95 OG LORENZ” (from my personal collection)

Kojima: This is the “Air Max 95” by Lorenzo, a London-based custom artist known as LORENZ.OG. He’s an artist who dyes sneakers to give them a completely different look. I discovered him on social media about two years ago and have been dying to get my hands on a pair ever since. I couldn’t get my hands on a pair back then, but this time, we invited him to Japan to host an event at “atmos Sendagaya.” We produced a limited run of 50 pairs, but instead of selling them, we decided to give them away to attendees via a raffle. The concept is to elevate sneakers from “something you wear” to “art you adorn yourself with.” While customization is a culture that has its gray areas, sneaker culture has, in part, grown out of those very aspects. It was great to be able to present that in a way that’s true to “atmos,” and I think it was also meaningful to introduce the “Air Max 95”—which has many longtime fans—to younger people from a new perspective.
