On his way to school, he painted on his own bag.
Yohji Yamamoto has collaborated with a variety of artists in the past, and the works of Takeru Amano and Yasuhito Sasada were collected from the archives of the label.
Katagiri:You mean they are all hand painted and one of a kind? That's amazing! When you hold them in your hands and look at them at close range, you can't help but admire the textures and details. On the other hand, when you look at them from a distance, they look like framed paintings.

The stacked box display oddly acts as a frame for the display.
Katagiri:I really want to do something like this too. In fact, when I was a student, I used to draw pictures on my bag on my way to school. But it was difficult and didn't turn out well at all.
It's different from painting on a square, flat canvas or paper, isn't it?
Katagiri:They have a great sense of color and collage. One of my juniors is in a band called the Bakurocho Band, and they also draw pictures on clothes, shoes, hats, and everything else. They are so cool! But recently, I painted my own car, too.
What did you draw there?
Katagiri:They are Jomon earthenware and clay figurines (laughs).

Something about this shape looks like a 00.
Puebko's origins can be found in markets and junk stores around the world. Old books and art books that have been sitting in the office are also for sale at unbeatable prices!
Katagiri:The lineup is exciting, with knick-knack cases made from hollowed-out old books and military kettles.

Katagiri:This old cash register and others are amazing! I love how it makes a "ding" sound every time you open it. It also seems to lock properly.
Katagiri-san, you seem to have a lot of these sample items at your home.
Katagiri:It's now a trash house (laughs). Figurines I bought from gacha-gacha, Gunpla I haven't made, Gunpla I made but have no place to display them, boxes with broken Gunpla....
(LAUGHS)
Katagiri:Since I started working with clay, my six-tatami room is overflowing with all kinds of things, including leftover paint, Styrofoam, bangles I bought at , ...... and just about everything else.
Oh, these (mushroom-shaped) paperweights are stylish, too! There is also a magnifying glass in the shape of a brush. See?

Do you still care about these objects?
Katagiri:Yes, I get curious about the feel of the material or the weight and pick it up. And sometimes I come up with an idea like, "This shape looks like something that looks like a zero. But basically, I'm not very good at playing with big ideas, so it's hard for me to come up with something when it's important, and I'm always in trouble....
