I can't believe this was painted over 50 years ago.

Next, we come to the exhibition of Finnish artist Tom of Finland! In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of his birth, 30 of his original works are collected here.
Katagiri:Ha~ Wow, wow, wow. You are so stiff~! (Laughs)

There is a specially set up 18-company section in the gallery, surrounded by silver colored tape.
When you pass through the door, there it is....
I heard that this is Tom's first exhibition in Japan. Unfortunately, artwork that appeals for LGBTQ rights by depicting gay people cannot be exhibited at ordinary art museums. But "Shibuya PARCO" is more than willing to welcome them. It shows the depth of their openness to all kinds of culture!
Katagiri:There's also an 18-company section. Let's go in!

Katagiri:Ahhhhhh, this is Shunga. It's a Shunga, you know? It is truly amazing that this work was painted more than 50 years ago.
Look, this one is a pencil drawing. How detailed! The expression of the whip-like three-dimensionality and the luster of the leather is truly unique.
Katagiri-san, you yourself are a clay sculptor who creates works of art every day, aren't you? But you started out in the art world as a painter, didn't you?
Katagiri:I did watercolor painting in elementary school and oil painting in junior high school. After that, I entered university and studied printmaking, but under the influence of a teacher who helped me in my teaching course, I began to enjoy sculpture more. From there, I started making only three-dimensional works.

The collaborative goods commemorating the exhibition are quite elaborate.
Seeing the words "realism" and "creativity" engraved on a long T-shirt, Katagiri said, "That's exactly what it means (laughs).

What is "value"?
Finally, the last exhibition. Here, the new M.I.U. collection "V (V)," which incorporates vintage items with artists' artwork, is being shown for the first time. Today we are pleased to have Mr. Ken Kagami, one of the artists featured in the collection, visit our store.

Katagiri:Kagami!
Kagami:Long time no see, Katagiri-san!
How did you two meet?
Katagiri:I met Mr. Kagami for the first time about 10 years ago when I went to his solo exhibition for a photo shoot for "Tokyo Walker. At that time, he was showing an exhibit in which he bronzes everything, even things that look like trash, such as thumbtacks and toilet paper cores (laughs). (Laughs.) And they said, "Isn't it worth it? I was really shocked!
The valuable works in the collection of "VOILLD" are also a highlight of this exhibition. Of course, there are works by Mr. Kagami, but there also seem to be quite a lot of found objects.
Katagiri:Found objects mixed in with the artwork? You're really joking, aren't you~ (laughs) Did you pick up these things too? (Laughs) Did you pick this area up, too? (Laughs)

College T-shirt with "HIGH SCHOOL UNIVERSITY" embroidery.
Katagiri-san quickly chided, "I don't know what you mean! Katagiri-san quickly quipped, "I don't know what you mean!
And here is Kagami's collaborative work. The familiar touch of embroidery is applied to vintage items.
Katagiri:It's a strange thing, somehow it looks like a brand name product!

Mr. Katagiri tries on an embroidered G-jun and jacket. The words are a joke, but I really like this one.
Katagiri-san, are you aware of Kagami-san and other artists living in the same era on a daily basis?
Katagiri:No, no, no, no, no, it's not proper for me to be alongside an artist! But I really respect you, Mr. Kagami. You are quick to act, and you do everything that comes to your mind.
I am not good at comedy, and I am most afraid of being classified as a "comedian" in the comedy world! That's why I call myself an "actor" in the comedy world, a "comedian" when I act, and an "entertainer" in the art world, and I try my best to dodge it! What do you enjoy doing now, Kagami-san? Embroidery?
Kagami:Is it when you are drinking at home?
Katagiri:I really wonder what "value" is. I put things I find like this in a row, and even the "go home" stickers are framed for some reason. I don't know!
We have come to the end of today's art tour! You have visited a variety of exhibits, were there any that left a lasting impression on you?
Katagiri:I forgot all about it when I met Kagami-san (laughs).
