From a drama-like encounter to a married couple.

HOUYHNHNM: First of all, how did you two become hairdressers?

Ryutaro:I have had a strong desire to pursue a professional career since high school, and because I love clothes, I initially considered a career in fashion. However, as I did more research, I realized that hairdressing was a national license and that the careers of famous hairdressers were close to the image I was aiming for, so I chose this career.

HOUYHNHNM: How about you, Kana?

Kana:I was also thinking of a different career when I was in school, but I entered a beauty school right after graduating from high school because I have always liked having my hair cut by a hair stylist and because I thought cutting hair looked like fun.

HOUYHNHNM's: Why did you join the salon you are currently working in?

Ryutaro:When I was in vocational school, I was looking for two years to work for someone I thought was the coolest person in Tokyo. The owner of OOO YY, nico, was doing hair and makeup for the Paris Collection of Junya Watanabe Comme des Garcons, which I liked at the time. Also, when I came here for a haircut a few times, I was attracted to nico's fashion sense and human nature, and decided to join.

HOUYHNHNM: Kana is in a different salon than Ryutaro.

Kana:In my case, when I was in vocational school, there was a seminar given by a hair stylist. The owner of HEAVENS, where I work now, was there, and I was impressed by his talk. I was impressed by what he had to say and decided to enter the company because I was reminded of what a wonderful job hairdressing really is.

HOUYHNHNM's: I see, so you are both working for people you admire. And so while working as hairdressers in different stores, where did you meet?

Ryutaro:I actually knew Kana from high school when I saw her in a magazine. It was a men's magazine, and there was a one-page article on him in a "Beautiful Hairdresser of the Month" type of project. I really liked her face (laughs).

HOUYHNHNM: So you were unilaterally in love (laughs).

Ryutaro: That's right (laughs). One day, about two years after I moved to Tokyo and became a hair stylist, I happened to see him in Shibuya and approached him on a dare. We exchanged contact information and here we are.

HOUYHNHNM: It sounds like a drama.

Ryutaro: But I confessed my feelings to him, but he rejected me once. I persisted and ended up going out with him.

HOUYHNHNM's: If you had to name a mutual attraction, what would it be?

Ryutaro:They look cool at first glance, but they are positive, cheerful, and a bit natural, always wearing an aura of "yang".

Kana:When I met him, he was wearing very aggressive fashion, and I thought I might not like him because he was younger than me, but when we started dating, he was very soft, sincere, and dependable, so I put all my trust in him.

HOUYHNHNM's: When did you get married?

Ryutaro:Three years after we started dating, so I was 24 and Kana was 29.

This pair of watches with stainless steel bracelets goes well with simple and classy low-gauge knitwear. The neat, uncluttered design makes them suitable not only for on-time wear, but also for casual weekend occasions.

HOUYHNHNM's: Looking at your outfits today, I think you both like fashion, but have you changed in the way you dress or your style compared to the past?

Ryutaro: I used to be an exclusive model for "CHOKi CHOKi" magazine, and I had to dress differently to be photographed, and this was also a way to attract customers to the store, so my fashion was quite unique. I think my fashion style was quite unique.

Kana:I have enjoyed fashion much more since I started dating my husband. Before that, I used to put a lot of thought into what I wore, but that changed when I saw him enjoying himself in a natural way. I also wear his clothes, and I think that clothes with a bit of a menswear feel are more suited to me.

HOUYHNHNM: Do you have a favorite brand?

Ryutaro: In junior high school I wore street brands such as Stussy and Abasing Ape®, and in high school I wore vintage clothes. After moving to Tokyo, my style was a mix of mode and street. The opening of Dover Street Market GINZA was also a big factor. Now I freely mix the clothes I have worn in the past. Recently, I have been wearing clothes from "Dairiku," for which I am in charge of hair for look shoots.

HOUYHNHNM: It's only for men, how about you Kana?

Kana:I don't have a specific brand in mind, but I've been searching for a long time for something that fits me well because I don't like to look too simple or too aggressive. If I had to pick one brand, I would say that I've been wearing the Sudoku brand a lot lately. This dress is no exception. I like it because it has a little gimmick to it.
