Sandals look good in Kamakura.

Kamakura is a place where the sea and mountains are in close proximity. In fact, Malibu, the birthplace of Malibu Sandals, is said to have a similar atmosphere. Perhaps because of this environment, many models use a unique slip-resistant outsole called "M-Grip," and the EVA footbed and midsole have varying degrees of hardness to create the proper amount of cushioning.
Mr. Tsuboi enjoys surfing in the ocean, but on the other hand, he is also very close to the mountains. He showed us the Daibutsu Hiking Course, where a trail overflowing with greenery appeared as soon as we stepped off the road. Mr. Tsuboi does not go trekking, but enjoys hiking in the mountains every once in a while.

Walking in the mountains is not so much a workout as it is a walk. It's more like a walk. So I can walk even with sandals. In fact, the ZUMA covers a large part of my instep, so it's easy to walk on mountain paths.
On this day, I passed local nursery school children walking with their teacher on the mountain path. Kamakura has a strong image of the sea, but seeing their smiling faces made me realize just how close the locals are to the mountains.

The location is moved from the mountains of Kamakura to the city of Ofuna. In addition to Kamakura, there is also a jujutsu dojo in Ofuna, which is headed by Mr. Tsuboi.
The dojo is located one step before the shopping street in the town of Ofuna Station, and all the mats and walls are white. It has a somewhat lab-like atmosphere. He goes to the dojo in Kamakura and Ofuna three times a week each to teach jiu-jitsu to students. Both dojos are beloved by the locals and serve as places for communication.

Work, jiu-jitsu, and surfing. As long as I have these, I'm happy. As long as I can feed my family. Freedom is the best thing in life," laughs Tsuboi, "rather than having to endure and endure and endure in order to earn a great deal of money.
Perhaps sensing that we were pondering what the good things about Kamakura are, he told us something like this.
Kamakura has a culture and economy that does not depend on Tokyo. If you depend on something unilaterally, you are not free and you cannot say what you want to say. There was once a time when a number of companies based in Kamakura gathered to sign an important contract. Normally, people would be wearing jackets and leather shoes, but everyone there was wearing sandals, as you would expect in Kamakura (laughs). Kamakura has a free atmosphere where anyone can wear sandals anywhere, anytime.
