A unique rod with real fishing performance.
SWAGGER" refers to the way people who are confident and have their own style walk and dress. The concept of the rod is "SWAGGER Outside the mainstream, asserting individuality," and it was developed for anglers who place importance on individuality. The art direction was provided by Mitsuhiro Matsumoto of the lure brand "Moshi Mushi.
In addition to producing topwater plugs, mainly handmade by "MOMUSHI," which have proven to produce reliable fishing results, Mr. Matsumoto has been engaged in various expressive activities with fishing as a starting point, such as holding a solo exhibition at "B Gallery" in "BEAMS JAPAN" from the end of last year to the beginning of this year. His knowledge of fishing and artistic sense are incorporated into "SWAGGER".
Mr. Matsumoto directed this work by extracting keywords such as "fashion," "military," "graffiti," and "art" from the name of the series, "SWAGGER, The most important thing was the coloring. The coloring was the most important aspect of this series. The eye-catching ice gray is a color not seen in other rods, but it has a meaning.
It is the "military" keyword. The camouflage color is what fish see when they look up from underwater, and the matte rod assimilates with the sky. As a result, the coloring has a stylish urban image, which is linked to one of the keywords, "fashion. The grip is a gray color that blends well with the ice gray. The soft coloring goes well with camping gear and blends in with your lifestyle.
The logo drawn by Mr. Matsumoto is inspired by "graffiti" tagging. Combined with the slang name of the series, "SWAGGER," it gives a streetwise impression. The "squishy" mark, made of two different colors of paint, is also on the lures of the "LOLMUSHI" series. This accentuates the inorganic look of the rod.
All rods are characterized by a "flat taper" with a stiffer tip to make it easier to cast lures where you want them to go. The taut tip makes the lure swim lively and gives it time to bite.
To try out the SWAGGER, we headed to Miyagi Angler's Village in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture. It is a managed fishing spot that celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, where black bass and trout can be caught. Moreover, it is said that you can also catch the monster fish that lives in the northern part of the U.S., which can only be caught here. ...... With high expectations, we took on the challenge with our usual members.
