The key to this collection lies in the use of color.
When did you get into bicycles?
Nagatsuka:It started a few years ago. I started riding with a friend. We don't go on long trips, but it's a great way to get around Tokyo. I like public baths, so I sometimes go to take a bath in it (laughs).
How do bicycles and "Elle Bean" go together?
Nagatsuka: It's very good. The brand specializes in outdoor activities, and it gives the impression of being active, so it blends in easily.
L.L. Bean is one of my personal favorite brands, and I have several items from it. The store where I work handles American vintage clothing, so I am very familiar with the brand. There are various genres within American casual, but I am attracted to outdoor clothing. I am attracted to such clothes because they are functional in nature and can often be described in terms of the item itself.
What did you feel when you saw the L.L.Bean Japan Edition items?
Nagatsuka: I thought it was all good. I like the relaxed design and silhouette in a good sense, but the playful coloring is appealing. It seems to be easy to incorporate into the fashions I like. The size is also very nice. Even though it is arranged for the Japanese, I am attracted to the world view that American people seem to wear.
What are the key points of this coordination?
Nagatsuka: I chose a henley neck parka and a jacket. Henry necks are easy to show layers, so I wore a shirt inside to bring an accent to the chest. The jacket is an item that could be found in vintage clothing, but while green and navy are often seen, charcoal gray is actually quite rare. I felt that this was the point of this collection. I chose these items in light tones to create a sense of unity in color.
Another point is that he is carrying an "L.L. Bean" backpack (laughs). (Laughs) I dared to choose red to accentuate the color.
