PROFILE

Born in 1987. After gaining experience as a store staff at a select store, she became a stylist, and in 2016 became independent, working for various media such as magazines, advertisements, and fashion brand catalogs. He is especially good at outdoor and travel styling, and is also well versed in various activities in his private life. He is also a father of two children, and the piece of furniture he would like to have in his home right now is a sofa.
The pleasure of going around the store.
This time, you will find the furniture you want at Crashgate for under $150,000. Let's take a quick look around the store.
Kondo: What kind of furniture does CRASHgate have?

We visited the CRASHgate Yokohama Minatomirai store, one of the largest CRASHgate stores in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
We have furniture and accessories with a wide range of tastes, including industrial style using steel, warm natural taste, and vintage style using old wood. As you can see, the actual store has a mix of each taste.
Kondo: When I go to a friend's house and see them actually using the furniture, I think that's nice and I want it so badly. It's good to have a mix of furniture laid out like this, so I can visualize what it looks like. I also like to buy basic furniture that I can use for a long time without having to replace it too often, and I think I can find a lot of that here.
At what point do you buy new furniture?
Kondo: I guess we are still moving.

Asano: I tend to buy things on impulse, or just on the spur of the moment. I buy something because I think it's really nice at the moment, but when I actually use it, I think it's not quite right. Maybe that will change as I gain experience, but I think I tend to change furniture because of that.
Endo: I also move. Because of my work, I have more and more things at home, so I often decide to move when I can't fit them in my current house. When the house becomes a little bigger, I add shelves to put things on it, or change the sofa from a two-seater to a three-seater. In my case, I also thought that I could use it somewhere for work (laughs). There is a pattern of owning things I am interested in or like, and then thinking about and using them. Not everything, but it is my job to introduce things, so I want to make it a point to first buy something and then try it out for myself.
I think Kondo-san has found something that interests him.

The Fleet Sofa 3-Seater is the one we are trying out. The low back and slender armrests make the design less oppressive.
Kondo: I am interested in this jacquard woven sofa. It's comfortable, and I like how elegant it is with these slight shiny ridges.
What kind of sofa are you using now?
Kondo: Actually, I don't have a sofa. I had been trying to avoid having a sofa in my house, partly because it would give the impression of living and partly because it is difficult in terms of space to put one in an urban residence. That's why I'm here for the first sofa this time (laughs).
I see. What is your taste in interior design and furniture?
Kondo: I used to live in a house with poured concrete, but now I really like wooden houses. After we got married, we started to choose furniture and houses together, and perhaps because my wife's family is a wood shop, we have chosen wooden furniture more often.
We also have a wide variety of furniture made of wood.

One-of-a-kind and may be sold out.
Endo: Are these stools also sold?
Yes. OKI KENICHI, an artist from Fukuoka, painted this one-of-a-kind piece for the "Crashgate Yokohama Minato Mirai" store.
Endo: I like the pop style of your work. I can't help but be attracted to one-of-a-kind pieces.
Asano: What kind of artwork do you have in your house, Mr. Endo?
Endo: Some of them I would regret if I did not buy at this time, and many of them are by artists, such as my favorite illustrator or a photographer I know.
As an interior stylist, I'm sure you see a lot of interior goods and furniture.
Endo: I don't buy large items on impulse, but I am more of an impulse buyer. My job is to look at all kinds of things, so if I see something nice, I pick it up wherever I go. I don't like things that look cool but are not easy to use, and I think my style is to make things look like they have been used properly by others. I think my style is to give the impression that people are using the product properly.
Kondo: What you just said reminded me of Alvar Aalto's own house, which I visited when I traveled to Scandinavia some time ago. It was not a particularly unusual looking house, but rather, I had the impression that it was quite natural and comfortable without trying too hard.
Oh, I think Asano-san has found something, too.

The Giese Coffee Table has a mid-century style with glass rimmed with oak.

Asano: First, I decided on this glass low table. I have a low table at home now that has a small round glass table that divides into three pieces, and I liked it at first, but I was beginning to feel that it wasn't quite right.
Kondo: So what we have now is also glass.
Asano: I like the way glass lets the eye pass through and makes the room look larger, but I feel that glass alone gives a cold impression. I like the use of light-colored wood in this low table.
This is a mid-century style, and the wood seems to be available in two colors, dark and light.
Asano: I think the leg design is unique. It's nice because you can choose the color of the wood to match the floor.

The Glow Stool Base and Glow Sofa Back Cushion are being tested in three different fabrics.
Kondo-san, are you listening? (Laughter).
Kondo: I also like this sofa.
Endo: You can relax anywhere by placing the backrest.
Asano: It would be nice to be able to move the backrest.
Kondo: What is the sofa like in Asano-san's house?
Asano: When I got married, I started living in Ehime and Tokyo. Tokyo doesn't have much furniture, but in Ehime, I live in a renovated 100-year-old old house. I recently got a dog, and as it grows, it will get very big, so I bought a new sofa with a tough fabric to go with it.

The Sid Round Table has an antique look with its round shape and parquet pattern. Designed for ease of use with adjustable height.
Endo-san seems to be concerned about the table.
Endo: The size is exquisite, and I have not seen it before. The height can also be changed, which is very clever.
Kondo: That's a perspective only a professional can have. How do you use it?
Endo: If you can adjust the height, it's also good for working on the computer on the sofa. It's just the right size for a computer and a drink, but a regular side table is a bit smaller. It can also be used as a table for a small meal with stools on both sides. Anyway, this size is exquisite and can be used for various purposes.
The deciding factor is the ease of use, which also applies to the selection of things you mentioned earlier.
Endo: Not only that, but the thickness of this top is not too slender and looks good. That goes for this dining table, too. I was looking for a table with a nice design of a large board, and the first thing I liked was the design of the legs. The legs are not in a straight line, but are designed with the person sitting at the end in mind, so the legs are a little further back, which is very thoughtful.

The Hakubi Table 1800 combines an oil-finished solid oak top with steel. It has a massive, vintage-like atmosphere and a generous size of 180 cm.
It will also come in handy when the number of people increases.
Endo: Yes, it is. The design is well detailed, with the gradual change in the thickness of the legs. I also like the mix of different materials in this top wood and steel legs.
Asano: What kind of dining table do you use now?
Endo: It is a DIY project that I made myself. The legs are similar to this one, vintage-like, and the top is simply made by buying a tabletop and putting it on top.
