When I withdraw cash overseas, I put my credit card in an ATM and cash out. However, when I put my card into the ATM at the airport on my way home, it was unresponsive. I looked closely and found an insertion slot at the top that looked like it would fit a passport just fine, so I put it in, but of course it was swallowed up and wouldn't come out.... My flight was almost ready. I almost missed the flight, but thanks to the emergency response of the kind Thai people, I was successfully rescued. Unbelievable ordinary mistakes, you make them when you are abroad, don't you?
