Serialized 【, What's the NEW VINTAGE? Vol.113 Nike fits in well with the atmosphere of the times. Tennis and golf that are on my mind.

In the 1990s, the term "vintage" was used to describe vintage clothing that did not meet the definition of "antique," but still had value, as opposed to "antique" clothing that was 100 years old. Nowadays, there is a movement to find new value in "new vintage," even in old clothes from the 1980s onward, which used to be called "regular" vintage clothes. In this project, four vintage clothing stores with different styles propose new ways to enjoy vintage clothing. Each of them will talk about the charm of vintage clothing with their own sense of style.

This is the 15th season of this series! The 113th edition of the series, the top-billed one with all new stores replaced, is a new store "KLIPP" in the Sangenjaya area, where the number of vintage clothing stores is rapidly increasing. What kind of new vintage items will director YUKI and store manager KOHEI, who appeared as "HIMSELF" in season 8, introduce to us?

-The theme of this series is "to find good regulars in the present that will remain in our records and memories like true vintage. So, what is the definition of "New Vintage" for KLIPP?

We would like to propose new vintage items "at the intersection of the top trend and the next trend that is likely to come next, not only in Japan but also in the world fashion movement. We would like to propose items that are in that position as new vintage. Therefore, as a store, we would like to feature items that are historically valuable and that can be connected to the context.

So, what new vintages did you have in the first round?

Once again, I think NIKE is a good brand right now, but I'm targeting golf and tennis. For several years now, there has been a Euro movement in tech and gear, and while awareness of this movement has been growing in Japan, Nike's products have not yet penetrated the market. However, there are many cool products with around-Y2K-like designs, and I picked them up because they are quite capable from a fashion standpoint. First of all, "Supreme" and "KITH NYC" are also paying attention to tennis. Let's start with its recent products.

The first item is a nylon jacket that has a distinctly sporty feel rather than a tech look.

I think it is a great way to enjoy vintage clothing culture to be able to follow it in the context of the changes of each era, and that is why the Tennis line is so interesting. The most notable point is the tuned-air logo on the left chest.

Tuned Air is the cushioning system used in the "Air Max Plus," and I understand that there is also clothing with this logo on it.

It is fashionable, isn't it? Sportswear from this period is naturally attractive in terms of design, but it is also more attractive when worn in person. In the sense that it has both value as a product and value when worn as a fashion item, it fits our criteria for new vintage. As you can guess from the white and pink color scheme, this is a youth model in size XL, and since there are many people who prefer compact silhouettes these days, I think adding this kind of youth or women's model to your selection will broaden your range of styles.

Also, being in the tennis category, the darts and patterning on the sleeves work well for ease of movement.

The material is nylon ripstop. The use of rubber on the front zip puller is also fashionable and has a sense of the atmosphere of the time. In the vintage clothing industry, Nike's "Challenge Court" series from the 1980s and 1990s has a strong image of tennis, but in terms of design and silhouette, the items from the 00s are by far the easiest to wear. That is one of the reasons why I would like to recommend them.

Nike's "Air Max Plus" is popular in the Eurozone, and it seems to go well with the badass gopecore of the region.

So, let's take a look at the "Challenge Coat" series items as a comparison to see how much has changed. First up is the denim high-neck zip blouson, characterized by its short length, wide body, and thick armholes. A patch is attached at the elbow, making it packable. The logo is casually in the same color.

There are a variety of colors, and chemical wash, ice wash indigo, and black are quite common, but the price of dark indigo goes up dramatically. One of the reasons for the high prices is that there are few items that can be worn normally because they are small in size when you look for good ones in good condition. Although they are not flashy, many people may think, "Is this really tennis wear? I think there are many people who think, "Is this really tennis wear?

The other one is quite fancy.

One of the characteristics of the Challenge Coat is the use of loud and eccentric patterns and color schemes. Since most of them are basically white with fluorescent colors as a base color, this black-based design is somewhat different. The overly abstract pattern on the back is unique, and the rubber patch on the chest, which seems to be based on a fire-breathing tennis ball, is also excellent. The large patch on the inside is also quite elaborate.

It is a great sight to see and may have art-piece value. And the last one is the golf line. The Nike golf line reminds me of the checkered shorts, knit vests, and hunting jackets that B-Boys used to wear in the 90s.The following is a list of the most common problems with the

Compared to the things of that time, here is a hooded vest that is quite modern and tech-oriented. The period is the early 2000s, the same as the first item. The style is similar to OAKLEY's golf line or ARC'TERYX. I think the key point is that Nike dared to go with this style. Golf is a sport that is played even in bad weather, so I thought a design that anticipates such situations would fit in with the current atmosphere.

Indeed. The shape of the hood is also cool.

A large type that can be worn gavotte while covering a wide area from the neck up. The hood is worn while playing a round of golf, and the hood is removed when hitting the ball. You can imagine such a scene. The material is stretchy and has a peach skin-like texture. The swoosh is embroidered in a discreet position in the same color. Don't you think there is a whiff of Euro in this anonymous look?

Clean and urban, it looks very usable as well.

You can imagine how they would look with wide denim and Oakley sunglasses. As I mentioned earlier, I think that Nike's tennis and golf styles of the 00s, which are not in the context of 90s Hip Hop, fit the current era, so I hope that you will give them a try.

KLIPP opened on April 19, 2025 along Chazawa-dori in Sangenjaya, a district crowded with restaurants and vintage clothing stores. Regular and vintage clothing from domestic and international designers and maison brands are lined up in a clean and sophisticated space reminiscent of a high-sensitivity select store.
