Another Westoveralls Dream. Forbidden collaboration items with Wrangler are now available from Edifice!

With his broad knowledge of vintage clothing, his deep knowledge, and the skill and sense to incorporate his love of denim into catchy expressions, he has gained the support of many people today.Westoveralls (WESTOVERALLS)〉.

end of last yearCollaboration with LeeWhen we visited the store, he told us, "I have a dream of collaborating with the three major denim brands, so I don't put stitches on the back pockets of my denim. This episode alone conveys the brand's extraordinary love for denim, and following in the footsteps of Lee, a second arrow has already been fired.

The select store's "EDIFICEThe collaboration with "Wrangler" is the first time that the company has joined hands with the "Wrangler" brand.

We asked Mr. Tatsumasa Onuki, the designer of "West Overalls," to introduce his collection of vintage items, which was the basis of the collaboration, and talked about the collaboration. First of all, what image does Mr. Onuki have of "Wrangler"?

I like all denim brands, but I think Wrangler's style is the coolest. I think Wrangler's style is the coolest. It reflects the western style of rodeos and cowboys. Even now, when I go to Texas, I see local people wearing Wranglers, and I get the sense that they are recognized as authentic western wear.

Mr. Onuki picked up some rare items from his vintage collection of "Wrangler" including those from the early 1950's. He says he feels romantic about the unique fashion approach of "Wrangler" such as switching to striped fabric. He says he feels romanticism in the unique fashion approach of "Wrangler" such as switching to striped fabric.

I also believe that Wrangler was the first denim brand to take a fashion approach. It is a famous story that Wrangler ordered designs from Rodeo Benn, who was a costume designer for western movies in the 1930s and 1940s. I have the impression that his style is very culture-oriented, and he is very skillful in connecting it to the image of artists and musicians wearing the clothes.

Mr. Onuki says that he is attracted to the style of "Wrangler" itself, not to mention its history and the excellence of its items. Here is the collaboration denim that sublimated such an image.

The silhouette and details are in "waist-over-alls" specifications. The material used is Wrangler's 12.5-ounce denim. On the bag pocket, Wrangler's iconic "Silent W" stitching was engraved as proof that the wish had been granted.

I launched a new line called "STA-WEST'S" at "WEST OVER OLDS. We use arrowheads and fringe motifs reminiscent of Indians, use materials and parts reminiscent of vintage, and pay particular attention to color fading. To put it bluntly, it is a line created for denim lovers, and this collaboration will be released as an item from "STA-WEST'S.

So, what items were the inspiration? In addition to the vintage items introduced above, the following items also popped up.

This is not vintage, but it is an item that Euro Wrangler made in collaboration with psychedelic art master Peter Max, and I bought it at a pop-up at Colette in Paris. I was inspired by the crazy patterns and use of fabrics, and since it was a collaboration between Wrangler, Edifice, and Westoveralls, the idea of switching fabrics came to me.

Different fabrics are used for the main body, belt loop, and watch pocket. Still more points of attention.

Also, as can be said for all West Overalls denim, we use a sewing method called "rolled stitching. It is said that Wrangler was the first to start this method. Until then, the strength of the denim was not strong enough to withstand the movements of workers, but by adopting this method, it has a history of being able to withstand tough work.

The center press is also a key element in shaping the look, and we used the gripper zippers often used in vintage denim from the 1950s for the zips and other fine detail work. I was also conscious of creating an elegant appearance that would match the clientele of EDIFICE.

The essence of vintage Wrangler is fused with the catchy look of Westoveralls. This is a denim lover's dream come true.

In addition to denim, T-shirts and caps are also lined up as collaboration items. The pop look is decorated with a star motif associated with "STA-WEST'S".

To commemorate this collaboration, an event will be held at "EDIFICE TOKYO" on April 5 (Fri.)! In addition to seeing the full lineup of products, there will be live painting related to the collaboration items by Amazing JIRO, who is active in various fields such as movies, TV dramas, and commercials, and who, if memory serves, did the special makeup for the commercial in which actors dressed up as members of the "One Piece" manga series. What a fun event!

Once again, we would like to say out loud that it is very difficult to realize a collaboration between denim brands. This is the best product that has been completed after overcoming a high hurdle. Denim lovers cannot afford to miss out on this particular piece of denim, as you can feel Mr. Onuki's deep love for denim in his hands.
