This year marks the 70th anniversary of the birth of Gucci's Horsebit.
In case you are wondering, it was invented by Aldo Gucci, one of the sons of Guccio Gucci, in 1953 as hardware for loafers. The design, consisting of two rings and a bar, was inspired by a harness shoe, and has been used in various ways as one of the brand's icons.
Presented here is a new collection of jewelry and watches that incorporate the horsebit motif.
The lineup includes rings, necklaces, and bracelets in 18k yellow gold.
Chain-type necklaces and bracelets are made by alternating classically shaped horsebit and square rings. This luxurious type is also decorated with baguette-cut diamonds and brightly colored green enamel.
The two watches are also available in two versions: one with a multi-faceted diamond-shaped case and a two-strand chain bracelet, and the other with a three-strand chain bracelet. Both cases and bracelets are 18k yellow gold, and the dials are brushed gold-colored.
These seem like designs that can be incorporated by women and men alike. Wouldn't it be great to casually incorporate iconic jewelry into a simple summer outfit?
