There are several masterpieces of furniture in the world, including the Vasily chair, the first chair in the world to use steel pipes in 1925, and the Chesca chair, which was created in 1928.
Marcel Breuer, who was a student at the Bauhaus, was the creator of these chairs that made an impact on the design world, and perhaps because of this, people tend to think of him as a designer who used steel pipes.
But in fact, from 1935, he became the chief designer of the British firm Isokon in London, where he also designed furniture with flowing curves made of plywood.
This time, MARGARET HOWELL and ISOCON have collaborated to reissue the nesting table created by Marcel Breuer in 1936.
The new collection is said to have been reissued in October 2022 to commemorate an exhibition held at Margaret Howell's flagship store on Wigmore Street in England, which traced the history and achievements of the IsoCon company.
It was made of birch plywood in a workshop in Walthamstow, east London. The table is specially designed to be engraved with both the reissue and the partnership.
The ease of use and durability of plywood can be seen from isocon furniture. It is light and supple, giving designers the freedom to create innovative, sculptural styles of furniture. Isocon promoted world-class design in England in the 1930s. It is simple, minimalist, and still very modern.
