It is quite hard to keep a job you don't like. After working hard in their 20s in order to enjoy weekends and holidays, many people finally realize that they are in their 30s. The reality is that they spend more time working than they do in their private time.
Then we should play as we work and work as we play! About three years ago, we started a company called Trailheads.Feature story on Yohei Yamaguchi, the representative of the company. We are taking on various challenges in order to realize our own idea of a good place to work.
And now we have another challenge. It was a mook book! I created a self-published book called "Beyond Working Book.
The contents are mainly interviews with people who practice work x play. Takahiro Homma (Founder, SANU), Takayuki Tsujii (Executive Officer, J-League / Former General Manager, Patagonia Japan), Toshimitsu Aono (Editor/Publisher, SPECTATOR), Miho Koshiba (MIDORI.so), and many others who have lived creatively while working and playing.
I felt a sense of familiarity with the people who participated in this project, including Kosuke Kobayashi, Eriko Nemoto, and Masayuki Nakaya, all of whom I have asked to take photos for me at Finamu.
Considering that a day is long but short, and that about 5 to 8 hours of the 24 hours are taken up by sleep, we are awake for less than 20 hours. Since we work 8 hours of that time, it is super important. This is a good opportunity to think about how we will work in the future, melting down boundaries. I think it will be interesting for those who like to play outside to read this book. Think about the way of life from now on, living seamlessly in both play and work.
