Climbing and driving are a bit similar in some ways.

Next came "Moonlight Gear" in Iwamoto-cho. This store is unique to Masaru, who enjoys camping and mountain climbing.
I am from Nara, but my mother's family lives in Yoshino, deep in the mountains, and I used to play outside with my grandfather when I was little. I used to go out with my grandfather when I was a child to gather wild vegetables and mushrooms, fetch spring water, and take a goemon bath with firewood. It was very inconvenient, but somehow it seemed fulfilling, and the joy of the outdoors was imprinted on me from a young age.

It was during this childhood period that Masaru became hooked on the outdoors over time. He was attracted to the ultralight style, which aims to reduce weight as much as possible, and started going to "Moonlight Gear.
I felt that the lighter the baggage, the more I could play. That's what I sympathized with. Instead of just aiming for lighter luggage, you bring something extra to make up for the extra weight you have taken off. For example, in my case, I take my camera and take pictures of flowers in the mountains. I am attracted to a style of mountaineering that allows me to enjoy climbing with a freer mindset, rather than being stoic about a single approach.

Communication with the store staff is another reason to come here. I enjoy exchanging information with the staff members and thinking about the mountains. Why are you attracted to mountain climbing in the first place?
It's fun to make do with the limited tools we have, and it's also nice to simply move my body and get fit. I think the appeal of walking is that you can feel the fallen leaves and rocks, and depending on the height of the steps you are climbing, you can use muscles that you don't use in everyday life. It's also nice to simply get a sense of accomplishment."

I was in the storefront, rubbing the next schedule together with the staff of Moonlight Gear, who often go mountain climbing with me. Our heads are filled with thoughts of mountain climbing.
I think mountain climbing and driving are a bit similar in some ways. You think about the route in your mind while moving your body to reach the top, but when you concentrate on it, before you know it, you become mindless. The feeling of nature that you get when you are moderately tired is really special, and it refreshes you.
