"I'd say it's closer to my usual style... or rather, I made a conscious effort to tone down the 'Wakomaria' vibe—in a good way."
That’s what Mr. Murata said right off the bat, but to be honest, when Mr. Murata—who works in public relations at *Wakomaria*—wears it, it really does look like nothing else… So I decided to ask him about the intention behind his remark.
"You might have a certain image in mind, but most of our suits are actually much flashier—colorful or patterned. This time, though, I chose something simple and easy to wear. If you look closely, the herringbone pattern is actually quite stylish."
Mr. Murata told us that they use fabric from *Dormel*, a long-established manufacturer founded in the 1800s, and specifically the luxurious “Amadeus” line. He went on to describe its features as follows.
An outfit that works for desk work, serving customers in-store, and heading straight to a party afterward. We’ve intentionally kept the inner layers and footwear casual to add ease of movement and a relaxed vibe.
"It has a unique, elegant sheen that you don't find in domestic products. Another appealing feature is that the fabric is suitable for wearing all year round. Until recently, I used to go for a very formal, buttoned-up look, but lately I’ve been styling it more casually—I think that’s in line with current trends. You can wear a patterned polo like I am today, or even a simple white T-shirt. If I want to go for a flashier look, I’ll sometimes pair it with an aloha shirt.”
Given the nature of his work, Mr. Murata says he’s conscious of “how he’s perceived.” While wearing a suit makes him feel sharp and put-together, he also says there are certain things he makes a point of doing.
"I try not to look too put-together. It’s more about adding a little casual touch here and there. Today, for example, that applies to my inner layer, but I’m also deliberately wearing sneakers. Since my job involves interacting with people, I make sure to strike the right balance—a relaxed vibe that’s appropriate for the occasion without being too stiff."
Ms. Murata says that accessories are also an essential part of styling. A nude ring sparkles on her left index finger, and a Trinity ring glitters on her right pinky finger.
