A crash course in the fashionable people found at the Mount Fuji 100!

We often hear that "there are many fashionable people in the trail running community," but is that true? We visited the Mt. Fuji 100, one of the largest trail running races in Japan, and took snapshots of the fashionable people who are interested in the race, not only the competitors but also the people involved with the brands exhibiting at the expo and the volunteer staff supporting the athletes.

--How did you get involved in the Mt. Fuji 100 this time?

We have a mud-dyeing workshop at the EXPO. This is our third year.

--What is the content of the workshop?

This is an experience to dye tenugui hand towels with mud. The fee is 1,000 yen, which includes the tenugui. We try to make it a casual experience.

--What are the distinctive points?

Mud dyeing is a traditional dyeing technique of Amami Oshima. All dyes are derived from nature, and we do not use chemical dyes. We make our products in an environmentally friendly way, and we hope that people will be interested in that aspect of our work."

--What was the reaction of the visitors?

There are many repeat visitors, and this year I have the impression that there are especially many overseas visitors. I feel that they are interested in Japanese crafts.
