A crash course in the fashionable people found at the Mount Fuji 100!

We often hear that "there are many fashionable people in the trail running community," but is that true? We visited the Mt. Fuji 100, one of the largest trail running races in Japan, and took snapshots of the fashionable people who are interested in the race, not only the competitors but also the people involved with the brands exhibiting at the expo and the volunteer staff supporting the athletes.

--How did you get involved in the Mt. Fuji 100 this time?

I volunteer as a sub-leader of the guidance point at the 96-kilometer mark. I go around the site and make sure the guidance is functioning properly."

-Have you ever competed as a player?

I competed in this race four years ago, but I had just had knee surgery and had to retire after 50 kilometers. Before that, the race was cancelled due to snow during the race, so I haven't been able to finish yet."

--How has that experience helped you in your role in this tournament?

I have experience in running, so it is easy for me to understand in what kind of condition the athletes are coming to this point. I think it also helps me when I talk to them on the field."

--What makes this tournament unique?

There are many road sections, and I think this is a competition where differences in training can easily show up. I strongly feel the importance of preparation. It is a race that requires a lot of planning."
